It does indeed look a great idea, however I share you concern that compared to a press, you may struggle to get sufficient force onto the bushes, via a M10 thread- some good details here- Thread forces

I made my own many years ago using m12 threaded rod and spacers. I stripped the thread🙄

As others have said it takes quite a lot of force to shift them.

Well done excellent tool your decision to make that extra long threaded nut is definitely the key to success with this ive heard others using similar tools that rely just on a standard nut have failed with stripped threads

Great, still want one 😁 maybe your bushes were pressed in originally with a little grease or copperslip (think I did this with mine)

@DannyTGS well done for fixing your brake lights after @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO commented on them on Sunday 🤣 he will be pleased to know I’ve put new bulbs in Becky’s car as well 😜 so that just leaves @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative  !!!! Has Glen fixed them yet ? I should hope so …. his got more time on his hands than the rest of us 🤔

Tight space to work there… hopefully my pressure switches will keep working, so I won’t have to break my fingers trying to fit something similar 🙂 well one is with hanging pedlas so easier access.

Today was the turn of the Spitfire. Replaced the shoes and adjusters on the rear brakes, the dizzy cap, popped a fresh battery on and the old sausage is mobile once more!

It hasn’t run well under its own steam since we got back from Classic Le Mans in 2022 with a sticky front calliper. I replaced those earlier this year, but put the Spitfire on the back burner with the arrival of the Westfield. We now have a fully working fleet as I’ve spent my week off doing all the car jobs.

2CV didn’t need anything as it never does, I fitted new discs and pads on the rear of the Volvo (so of course that now needs the EPB coding to behave properly!), the Westfield had an oil and filter change yesterday and a couple of other little jobs and the Spitfire now just needs a good polish and hoover and the brakes bleeding.

Van needs an MOT at the end of the month, so that will be next in line.

Was going to take the Spitfire for a blat, but it’s just started persisting down, so it’s Netflix and warm up in front of the fire.

Happy New Year all!
