I've very glad it was not the same place though on the driver side as that is where the brake and fuel lines run. If I referb or build another Westi I'd not route them as guided they would be all down the tunnel sides. Thankfully, the XI is meant to have the brake line run in the tunnel, on top of the lower chassis rail. The fuel line goes straight from the tank, which is alongside my right knee, to the engine bay. Jaime Ward Posted Wednesday at 10:06 Posted Wednesday at 10:06 Maybe a bit early, but the winter strip down and refresh has begun! Few changes to be made, hopefully next time it comes out the garage in one piece she will be more of a machine! 😁 7 Quote
Flying Carrot Steve Posted Wednesday at 10:15 Posted Wednesday at 10:15 Interesting, where have you placed your cold air intake? I'm always interested in how other turbo cars are done differently to mine. I'm in a similar situation atm though! Started to do one job, then decided may as well do as many as I can given September is closing in. 4 Quote

My turbo is mounted under the manifold so the intake is relatively low compared to yours. 1 1 Quote

DIY-Si Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I've started work on assessing the damage done to the XI. This was flat: The lowered passenger floor has taken a bit more of a beating than I realised, as it doesn't look too bad from underneath. Lifting the seat pad out gave a different view, as I could fit my hand under the gap. Some how, the chassis has nothing more than a scuff to the powdercoat at the front! There are three rivnuts that spin due to bent bolts, but otherwise the damage is limited to the bolt on undertray and the seat floor. I am rather glad I was flying solo at the time! Quote

Good grief @DIY-Si , the XI took quite a beating. Yes, if you'd had a passenger, they would certainly have felt something trying to come through the floor! Quote
