Why do some nosecones have the slats and some have a mesh grille?

Posted

The V8 nose cone was redesigned from a standard nose, in the very early ninties, to look more "modern" and incorporate the ducted air outlet from the radiator into the top, at the same time to help make the SEiGHT visually more distinctive, the slatted front was included as it looked less old school than the old metal grill.

Ironically, however, the moulded in body coloured slats seem to have dated quite badly, visually, (and really flow badly, air wise, making them much more inefficient than the old grill). Whereas the metal f=grill looks more timeless, or you can use the hex pattern "Audi" style aftermarket grill material and have a much more contemporary looking nose, with the advantage that the hex grill flows even better than the old metal grill did.

Just wish a grill less version of the V8 nose had been done, eventually, when it was realised how poor the slats were.
