Spax shocks

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thank you for the warm welcome yesterday! I'm starting my mission to know exactly what every part on the car is!

I've attached a picture of the suspension - I believe these are Spax shocks? Please could someone let me know if these are stock (assuming not) and if they are any good? Appreciate the photo is a bit crap but any info would be appreciated!

Definaltely not Spax...   The sticker is, (assuming they have not come from an ebay seller we turn a blind eye to.) but dampers are not Spax.    They look like AVO or GAZ to me.   Theres a lot of detail differences such as the knob, and top loop design which stand out as being AVO or GAZ.      My bet would be GAZ.

Thanks everyone - having done some looking online at GAZ and AVO products,  I'm now not sure what they are! @DamperMan do you know if they should have a part number on them somewhere which will confirm what they are?

They should have part numbers.   The should also have batch codes…  both should be stamped into the bodies..    either above the thread or below.

Avo tend to use coloured polyurethane type material bushes also for bump stops too.  (This is not a fixed rule).    Gaz tend to mostly use rubber.    I think the style of the upper collet and support is more Gazzard style.
