Phippsy
As a new owner, I'm still looking for a local garage that I'd trust working on my car. Like the member map, would it be possible to make a garage map around the UK of specialists and even have the ability to add personal reviews? Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
Sadly there aren't so many garages in the UK that specialise in kit cars. Perhaps if you indicated what you needed, this could help? You'd be much better doing as many jobs as possible yourself and learning from this forum and members. You may find generous local members in your area may be willing to come round and supervise/support you for tea and biscuits.
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
@AndrewBClarke and @JamesGN are not far from you that may know some local places for MOT's etc. As @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO says, it's really quite satisfying doing things yourself (it seems daunting but is honestly not that hard!) plus the support, advice and help you'll get from the gurus on the forum and local members is amazing! A load of us have just helped @HB46443 (who by his own admission had limited mechanical knowledge) take a hugely complex engine (supercharged beast!) out of his car and refit it after a rebuild.
AndrewBClarke
Just call round. Only 16 miles from you in Horsington. Didn’t build mine but have done lots of things from changing seats and suspension to new fuel lines, pumps etc. With regards to garages for Mot. Try Fulletby Motors. They have done mine for several years and were very good at noticing hairline cracks in the chassis. Whilst not good to get a fail it was much better to find it than not and many would not. Either way a simple chat will cover more topics than you anticipate. Andrew 2
