Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 For those coming from the south, we will do our normal pre-meet at the A50/A38 services (DE65 6DX) at 9am for a 915am departure and convoy up to the Hurt Arms to meet the rest of the gang. Feel free to tag along if anyone is coming that way 👍 2 Quote
Labrat Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Great to see everyone this morning. Sorry I was late getting there and early leaving. Got absolutely drenched on the way home, but fun to be out and about in November all the same. Luke. 3 Quote
Popular Post Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted November 19, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted November 19, 2022 We briefly gathered everyone up at The Hurt Arms to take the 1 minute journey to the Great British Car Journey museum where we all got parked together, it was dry at this point 😃. After a bit of a tyre kick the tea pot beckoned and we all piled into the cafe to continue our conversations. Here we are, anyone with magical photo editing skills please feel free to sharpen this one. When we came out of the cafe it was raining, so any thoughts of looking around the other cars were dashed and we set off, some for home and some in search of cake. Luke Steve Tim Stuart's M240i I rang round but places were full so I booked us into the Fountain at Bonsall, only 10 minute's away, which is far enough when you are shoehorned into a wet car The Fountain car park Inside the cafe Andy and Becky always half their cakes to share them and this is an 'Andy's Half' well Mr Gilbert, that is never halved, tut, tut, and these people build cars. Let's hope the build manual never says 'cut this piece in half' 😂 Obviously Becky took the larger half as Andy then had to prey on Andrew for his cake 😂 Glynn was keeping well out of it While I was absent exactly who was it, Rebecca Gilbert, that nicked my camera and photographed these loonies 😁 A message to @Andy Westwood , where were you today? you were missed by these stand-in Cake Meister's Thankfully it was dry when we came out of the cafe so we all removed our half hoods. The way home was not without challenges, we turned at Matlock due to heavy traffic, we knew both Bakewell and Chatsworth had their xmas market's on, so we took to the back roads with all the other locals, it was like the Wacky Races as no-one was hanging around, so we got a run out after all, brill. See you next time, go and fetch some sunshine though please. 9 1 Quote
Popular Post Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted November 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 19, 2022 Thanks for organising @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative , we seem to be cursed with rain every time we go to the GBCJ, I'm starting to think it has its own weather system! 😂 Having not been in the car for 2 weeks, I got all excited and arrived at Willington Services far too early but the sun was out! Mind you, it was verrrry cold but thankfully heated coat had come out of hibernation! @Tim Coles and @Stuart (in the lovely M240i) arrived at about 9am. Stuart even put the electric roof down (poser! 😂) in solidarity, but with the heated seats, 3 litre twin turbo powered heating and air deflector I'm sure he was far warmer than Tim and I 😂 Nine Westfields (plus Andy, Becky, Gary and Stuart in "normal" cars) in mid November is an amazing turnout, thanks everyone for making the effort! It's typical though, only 10 miles south and no rain.... another 10 miles and it was blue skies again! 10 Quote
