Mesh Wind Deflectors

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever built or adapted a mesh wind deflector for the Westfield?

I see convertibles use them all the time but not on a Westfield, is there a reason why?

I look forward to the responses.

Yes, (though not personally)

The factory offered one for a while; it looked like a pair of Nora Batty’s old tights strung over the roll bar.

@AndrewBClarke has one,I’ve driven his car and it seemed fine. 👍

On the other hand, I remember borrowing one years and years ago, to try on previous car, and while it certainly made a difference, I actually didn’t like the change, and found it more comfortable without it.

I guess the issue is partially, Westfield cockpits are very open, what ever you do so often you’re just subtlety changing the turbulence, not removing it.

@snowy892

I've got one that came with my first Westfield (fits over a standard Wide Body bar and has velcro strips at the bottom).

I don't know what they cost new but as I never use it you are welcome to buy it off me ... does £10 including postage sounds reasonable?

I've done it. I thought it didn't improve buffeting at all (but I persuaded the memsahib that it did). It's back off now

I have played with this. Tried a few things. Initially bought a plastic mesh version with the car. Not really impressed as there was a gap along the bottom which defeated the object and it also effected seeing cars behind you disappear when you accelerate. I used the plastic one as a template and made a new one with 10mm Perspex trimmed around the edges with car trim and held in place with Velcro straps.

As I have a vinyl boot cover, I have also added another bit of trimmed Perspex under the cover to hold it up close to the rear screen and stop a draughty.

Just as a closing note, I haven’t driven the car without either my screen or the plastic mesh so don’t really know what difference it makes but in bad weather with the half hood on, it is significantly more comfortable.

Welcome to take a look or request further photos!!
