Zetec E Blacktop - Cam Cover

I need to replace my Cam Cover. Just editing to be clear it’s the whole cover I need, not the gasket. 
 

if you’ve changed yours for aesthetic reasons or just have one lying around in your parts cupboard, then I’m your man. 
 

It’s a later version, pics attached for clarity.

HI @CherryTreeFW what has happened to lead to you needing a new one or are you planning a jazzy paint job?

I was going to do compression tests, but when I took the plug covers off, there was oil in 2 out of four of the plug wells. 
 

I thought it would be a failed rubber seal in the cam cover, but when I investigated there was heat damage to the plastic cover itself at 2 of the bolt hole locations. Oil was clearly crossing from the cam chest. 
 

Ideally I’d like to replace the cover with another OEM one (albeit plastic) but they are like hen’s teeth!

Something doesnt sound right here how much oil you losing out the cam cover breather?

 

Do you have any pictures of the heat damage to the cover and the location on the car?

You can fit the silvertop alloy covers - they are interchangeable with the Blacktop.

 

I have one spare if you are interested.

@Rednop1 - I didn’t take pictures, but I will when I am able to replace it. In the meantime, the damage took the form of overheated and degraded plastic adjacent to 2 of the bolt sleeves. One was the middle bolt on the inlet side (on the inner set of bolts) and the other was towards the thermostat housing end (also on the inner set of bolts). So in each case it was one of the mating faces separating the cam chest from the spark plug wells. The damage was similar to the damage to the thermostat housing (which I replaced) after the coolant was dumped and the engine overheated. I’m losing approx a teaspoon full of oil from the cam breather. Thing is, there was none at all before all this. Hope some of this helps. I’ll post pics when I can. Thanks, D 😀

@Kingster - thanks, that could be ideal. Does the alloy version take a gasket or a rubber seal inserted into the underside of the cover (like the blacktop)? And I notice that the centre bolt inserts at each and stand quite a bit proud from the top. Have they just got pushed/pulled out, or  are they meant to be like that? Thanks, D. 😀

Rubber seal but think it’s different- the centre bolts can be like the rest of preferred, or use the extensions as shown to fit the alloy plug cover that i have - pics coming up…

@Kingster- thanks for all the pics - really helpful. The rubber seal would be fine, as long as it mates with Blacktop head. Thanks for clarifying re the bolt sleeves - I would probably opt for the original fit (I like seeing the HT leads!). Can you message me separately to let me know what price you are after for it, please? Thanks, D😀
