SootySport
We will be going on holiday somewhere when I'm mobile again. Holiday funds have been increasing dramatically over the last 2 years as travel has been restricted for all of us.
corsechris
Some Schadenfreude for you. Finally reached the holiday destination we’d booked for 2020. Not had even a sniffle for years. First day here seemed OK but overly tired. Put it down to recent poor sleep and the travel. Had 3 crappy dives due to real issues equalising then woke the next day with a range of symptoms which expanded over the next day or so to include shivers, chills, sweats, loss of senses of taste and smell, fluid in lungs, headaches. I’m going to guess COVID but it’s academic really as it seems highly unlikely I’ll be doing any more diving while I’m here as sinuses still clogged with no sign of clearing and given some of the diving can involve some significant current, trying to handle that with potentially reduced lung function is a very bad idea. Diving is pretty much the only reason I come all this way and spend this much bl**** money. I don’t much enjoy the heat but tolerate it. Now the heat is all I get to ‘enjoy’, with the added bonus of running a temperature of course. The food here is, apparently, great as always, but I can’t taste it, nor do I have any appetite. Final cherry on top is the missus has now caught it from me and is showing some minor symptoms. Hopefully they stay minor as of course, I don’t want her to suffer it. So, feeling any better now @SootySport? To add, this is just Karma. I should have cancelled this trip and donated the money to support Ukraine.

I would retire to the bar 🍹 I only offered it for the Schadenfreude, not as competition No worries getting back on the plane I don’t think - no more testing before travel now. And honestly, I just want to go home. Can’t be over soon enough frankly, which isn’t really the ideal sentiment given where we are and what it cost. Still, plenty of other folk with way worse problems so mustn’t grumble.

Was booked in to this resort for my 60th in 2020 as I mentioned, but, well, global pandemic. I do have previous in this regard though. My 50th was also a trip to the Maldives….remember the volcanic eruption that shut down all European air travel? Yep, that was my birthday trip too. We did travel eventually but not until after my actual birthday. Resort is great, but given I still can’t dive (still congested) and I’m still not 100%, and the missus is now feeling bad too, well, it’s a damned expensive trip to just sit on the beach feeling ****e. Without the diving, I’d not be here I don’t think….so since I can’t dive, well, you get the picture. Might try somewhere cheaper in future. A mate rates Bali for the diving and VFM. Might try that one day. Still, as I say, others have actual serious problems to worry about.
SootySport
My last diving was in the Seychelles a few years ago, beautiful islands there, I've never fancied the Maldives as nothing but beach and lounging around, bit of a captive audience. I remember the Icelandic Ash cloud, wife got stranded at Schipol airport and I had to drive over there to rescue her.
SootySport
Things are getting better. Rocketeer is back with new cills and nice and shiny paint. Wifes Audi and neighbours car repaired. SootySport
It goes on, Our main oven died last week, was going to fix it myself but parts unobtainium. New oven bought and of course had to buy the matching microwave/combi oven as well, they're fitted and working ok. Boiler kept loosing water pressure and new expansion bottle quickly fitted by our trusty heating engineer. My iPhone died 3 days ago and uneconomic to repair so new iphone arrived today and is up and running. Good news is my ankle is not hurting anymore, just aching and I'm not wearing the big boot, just aches a bit. Roll on 2023.
