Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO
If I don't have chance tomorrow, I'm definitely getting the car out on Tuesday night, so I'll do my best to get photos without jacking it up. I guess the critical one is from sump gasket 'lip' to bottom of the flat box section and the 'volume' of the rectangular box 'wings' so length x width x height. Did you need to change to the flat style of oil pick up (Burtons do one)? Is the engine oil capacity still the same with the modification? Richard I can see what you mean about the near side extending under the starter motor - Robin does yours do the same? I assume that will mean taking the sump off if you needed to change the starter?! thanks very much chaps The off side wing could be longer but this would restrict adjusting / fitting cluch cable ( if you use a cable). No sump does not need removing to remove the starter, you just unbolt and slide out towards the front of the engine. I lost half a litre of oil capacity with this sump over standard, I ran it like that for many years before fitting a cooler, the car doesn't need one but was the cheapest way of getting my missing half litre back. I would stongly recommend using Burtons " competition " sump gasket set, I gave up on the old cork ones years ago. All I did with the pickup, is measure 20 million times then cut tube to suit, if I were to do the same again I would add internal baffles as if you are a bit keen on the brakes the pressure can dip for a millisecond, not ideal but you really do have to slam on from speed , would matter on a track far more however. Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO
Without jacking the car up completely, these are the best photos I can get. The width is 260mm, From front to back of the wing is 185mm, And the height of the wing is 70mm. Hope this helps.
