Which tracks for a novice from the west midlands?

Hi All, I'm in the west midlands and looking at some track days but wanted some advice.

I've got a megablade 919 and so far have only done Curborough.

Three Sisters looks like a decent little track and I think it will suit the car as there's no long straight. Has anyone else done this one?

Blyton also looks good but it's a fair distance to get there.

Any other recommendations?

Blyton is awesome, first time I did it was on the WSCC day. So much run off for mistakes and good variety too.

I wanted to do the club day but it landed on the same Friday as a work event 😭

Try Anglesey. Plenty of room and plenty of run off. 😀

Do want to develop your skills or just have a good time?

Bedford is a decent novice track, but doesn’t push you to become a better driver. I.e you can drive badly but still be reasonably fast.

Otherwise, Oulton Park - fortune favours the brave!!

Cadwell park is great in a westfield. I appreciate is a trek for you but IMHO well worth it.

Blyton last week was a blast and we got to try 2 circuit layouts in one day

Do you want to do a hillclimb? If so, Shelsley Walsh won't be too far from you.

I'm interested in hill climb but would need to invest in a new roll cage as mine isn't certified. £1200+ I don't want to spend at the moment!

I go watch at Loton Park regularly and have always fancies having a go.

For now I'd prefer track days as there's more time in the drivers seat.

Where ever you go consider getting some tuition - I can guarantee it will be money well spent.

Driving a Westfield to it's limits puts a smile on your face 😁

Be careful with tution. I got the msv tuition added to my first track day in my Westfield. He grabbed the wheel to push me closer to the apex and it resulted in a spin very close to the barrier. Would I do tuition again at a trackday. No.

That's very unfortunate and quite frankly unacceptable......However, it's not the norm, and every time I've had tuition I have only come out of the other end being a better driver.....Tuition is probably the single best upgrade for lap times. So, assuming the people doing the tuition are competent, then it is worth  it.

Back to the OP.......Being a complete chicken when it comes to high speed stuff, I prefer the airfield type tracks with a smaller course and tighter corners, and very big run-offs. If you can make the journey down south (a little), somewhere like Abingdon (motorsport-events) run a really good track day (usually on Fridays).

You should try Donington @Jenko it’s fast but not scary.

I do need to do a few different ones and Donington sounds fantastic.....One of my main issues no trailer....So I tend to drive my Westfield to the tracks. Irronically, Thruxton is my closest track, and also happens to be one of the fastest in the UK!...So I've stayed away 🙂 -
