adhawkins Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 They must all be ignorant around Wilts / Glos! At least, nobody waved to me Perhaps it was the hat? Andy Quote
Ian Gratton Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Wow !!! what fantastic weather we've had. Craig managed to rack up another 140 road miles in the XTR2 this weekend. He went over to Matlock to hook up with the bikers and they think we are mad as ####. We also popped to sainsburys to get some lotto tickets which caused a bit of a stir too If the weather is good this sunday we intend to take a trip to Matlock early morning for some breakfast and a wander about - anyone else interested Ian. Captain Colonial Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Captain, where u been?! Long story! Got made redundant end of August, struggled along and finally got a new, much better job just before Christmas (picked up my new A4 company car last Thursday - am I a happy chappy or what?), been recovering financially since then, so had to curb the social life and Wench-spenses, so to speak. Now that things are approaching normality, I am doing my MacArthur "I have returned" thing. Sorry it's been so long - gotta keep the side up for the standard bodied car owners! Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Captain, was it you that went through Stratford yesterday? Nope, I avoid Stratford mostly, unless we're going to a performance at the Swan or RST - the town's full of bl**** Americans. I have been known to stop for a few jars at the Dirty Duck on a sunny afternoon, and have frequented a little pub across from Mary Arden's House in the nearby village of Wilmcote (where one of my musical heroes, Al Stewart, lived as a boy). Mind you, once that moron Uncle George kicks off tomorrow night, most of England should be free of Yank tourists, except at RAF Fairford and Mildenhall. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Cheers and thanks, chrisbin and Mark - nice to know folks are pleased to see at least one of us colonials in the UK! Quote

Hiya Rob, Not likely to make Thursday (next 3 days at NEC at Commercial Vehicle Show, so I'll be blinking knackered!), but will show up in April in all likelihood. Got the info on the new venue OK, thanks. Got your beast on the road yet??? Regards, CC Quote
Stuart Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 have frequented a little pub across from Mary Arden's House in the nearby village of Wilmcote (where one of my musical heroes, Al Stewart, lived as a boy). I know that boozer too. Also saw Al Stewart last year. First time since the 70's. Never realised in the 70's that he was gay, but it was a little obvious last year. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Most people think he is - he appears a bit efeminine. But he has a lovely wife and a yound daughter that he absolutely dotes over. Go figure. Quote
