griffith500user Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Hoping one of you chaps might know the answer to my question. Ash said there are a couple of ex-Westfield employees selling off kit on eBay. One of the listings is for a pair of new 4-point TRS harnesses. They are FIA legal apparently to 1998 specification, is that ok for the current regulations to compete with in Sprints and Hillclimbs? I’m having trouble finding anyone with a pair of the right belts for a Westfield that I can use for competition so this would be ideal if I could confirm they are acceptable.
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 For road going belts and harnesses are free as long as legal on the road ie - MOT standard If in modified, then apparently not according to the below (1998 would be valid until 2003) 2.1.7. All seat belts used on International Events must be homologated by the FIA, and carry their label. For national events, where Specific Regulations require an FIA Homologated harness, harnesses homologated by the FIA according to FIA standard 8853-2016 may be used for up to five years after the year stated on the label. Harnesses homologated by the FIA according to FIA standards 8853/98 and 8854/98 may be used until 31st December of the year stated on the label. Harnesses homologated by the FIA will display However, for Modified Specialist Production cars (7 type cars) then I believe harnesses dont have to be within date
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 If its these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125390923649?hash=item1d31e1a781:g:QXQAAOSwtXNiutgu then you can get in date brand new ones to the latest spec for a lot less from elsewhere
