I've just seen a £50 donation which is an anonymous payment, if its from anyone on this forum then thats absolutely amazing and thank you😊

Paul (Lily's dad) said a few words to say thanks to everyone involved,  it was somewhat emotional, in fact he went to pieces which set me and a few others off which makes you realise a few blisters and dodgy  knees and legs is nothing compared to what some go through.

We are awaiting for confirmation from the company we work for as to whether they will match what we have raised? I really do hope so, in which case everyone's kind donations will have doubled!

Heading home (hopefully), my wife will be waiting for me from the station (hopefully?!) and then I'm heading to the bath and I think I'm done!!

For people who run these distances for fun, you are mad but I take my hat of to you.

Over and out!!!!!!!!

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with Cancer, whilst it is one of the more 'mild' ones, for a group of friends all around 21/22 years old, it's really made all of my friends think about things for once. Because of this, cancer is constantly on my mind at the moment, so I thought that I should give a little. My friend has just started his treatment, and all seems to be going well at the moment, so I'm hoping things go well for Lily as well!

Just as a little update, my friend was given the all clear a month or two ago, and it's great to see him back to his usual self again!

That said, about 2 weeks ago, he posted in a group chat that he noticed that half of his face wasn't 'responding' normally to what he was telling it to do. Thanks to ads on the TV over a decade ago, we all knew that it was the signs of a stroke, so we all went into action mode to try and offer assistance. He called an ambulance and made sure he was in the right position, just in case. When the paramedics came, they assessed him and deemed that it wasn't a stroke, but still took him to the hospital for a check up.

After a long wait on our end, it was found that he had Bell's Palsy, a minor and non permanent version of Cerebral Palsy. He's been put on medication and is recovering well now. He's had a hard year to say the least!

Glen, how is Lily doing? Hope things are going well!

Hi @Alex Gaskin, Glad to hear your friend is on the mend, despite the latest setback. Sounds like he has a great bunch of friends around him!

Out of curiosity how old is he?

There always seems to be something nowadays.

Lily seems to be also doing well. After having a good chat with her Dad the other day (only over a work's Teams call) he was saying that she still has to go for check ups every 3 months which involves scans on the brain and there is still a 'dark' area on the brain but they've been told that the specialist isn't overly worried about it as this is damage caused by the treatment so should heal over time and tests done every 2 months to check her liver is functioning correctly.

Her Dad (Paul) has said that the chemo has damaged the ovaries which she had an operation about 2 years ago to have part of them frozen to try and assist with fertility at a later date. However it seems the chemo has started an early menopause?

Despite all this Paul says she still gets up every morning to get herself to school or down to the stables to look after her horse and never seems to moan.....

Life can be cruel at times but she seems the sort of person that just amazes me and makes me understand how bl**** lucky I am!

For the record we raised approx £4650 in total. We were very disappointed with the company we work for as they said they would fund match but didn't pay a penny - the joys of an American penny pinching investment company.

As I've said before, a massive thanks to all involved.

Good to hear that she's still doing okay.

My friend is 22, 23 next week.

I know regardless of the age no one should ever endure this but at that sort of age just seems so much worse.

Hope the improvements continue for him and his family.

Puts life into perspective at times. We're all culprits for this, myself included.....but when I think I'm having a bad day it's nothing really!
