New to Westfields

Steve Bosworth

Recommended Posts

Hi all ive recently took the plunge and bought my first ever Westfield, after wanting a '7' style for over 25 years. Ive been biker all my life and ive decided to hang up my boots and move into something new.

I bought this from another member on here and im really pleased, i was looking for of a more modern style but with it only having 450 miles from new and being a 2015 i went for it. My plan is to change the chrome out for black, new exhaust, few interior changes and hopefully change the colour.

Ill be hoping for plenty of help from fellow members and ive already been welcomed on some facebook forums.

Welcome Steve, looking forward to getting you out on a few local meets and Peaks runs with the rest of the "rabble" (as our little Facebook chat group is affectionately called 😂).

If you need any help or advice, you know where we are 👍

Welcome.....Very nice car.........Such a low mileage!.....what engine is it running.

Regarding the changes you want to make.....I'm completely with you, and to be honest although the Westfield racing green can a bit 'old school' with the chrome (nothing wrong with that if that's the look you are going for), but the deep green does lend itself to a more modern twist if you accessorize with the right hardware colours. That's pretty much the look I wanted with my car...lots of black, lots of carbon, some beefy looking exhausts, etc, etc.

Also, worth considering a different roll bar which is taller and has back stays....the standard westfield offering really isn't up to much and most peoples head sits above.

Hi Steve,

I think I saw your car advertised when it was for sale, I was half tempted with it myself! ☺️

It looks a really nice car, and I'm a big fan of the 'blade engine (and bike engines as a whole). I had a Megablade for 11 years previously and they're such a useable car on the road.

Have fun!

Lee.

Welcome from Essex. I have a rear roll bar in black going spare if you want it, same shape as your chrome version. PM me if you want it.

The Westfield Racing Green looks fantastic, be a shame to change colour, some silver stripes/decals would transform it.

Hi mate thanks, it seems to be very genuine as underneath is spotless. Its running a 919 blade engine, only drove it the once before my surgery and it seems pretty good. Since i cant drive it ive been hooked on the forums and watching videos of these things and i cant stop bashing ideas around in my head 😆. Prob been pestering most people asking so many questions, but i dont know anything about these so need to learn.

The colour like you say could be better if accessorised correctly so im going to see what it looks like after ive made changes.

So far i have coming:

Pro Race 1.2 in 13" this weekend

Black RAC roll bar

Current Future plans are to:

powdercoat the front wishbones, windscreen and supports.

Replace front wings with carbon cycle.

Take out the boot tray and replace with a carbon sheet

New black 5.75 headlights with led inserts

Quick release steering column ( not sure how easy that is to do)

Needs a new exhaust as the current one is a right bodge job.

Then ill see what the colour looks like to me, its a funny shade of green personally so im not a fan, and yes it would of been easier to buy the right colour to start with but the money i paid and mileage it has swayed me as id of been getting a 20 year older car with miles for the same cash.

Any ideas or help are welcome and i appreciate everyone's advise.  ❤️

Many thanks Lee, i hope to have lots of fun getting to know it and learning the whole '7'' life! Its strange coming from a motorbiking life for 29 years the family and friendships seem to be the same here too which is great.

Re: your thoughts on future upgrades:

powdercoat the front wishbones, windscreen and supports. - Maybe worth looking at wide track such as Rally design, who will sell you a full set of wishbones (slightly wider), and come with new bushes (poly type). This might even work out cheaper as your old ones maybe worth money - They are of course black. Questionable as to performance gains, but it looks good 🙂

Replace front wings with carbon cycle. - Try MOFAST (Carbon Fibre Cycle Wings for 195 profile tyres (mofast.co.uk)and Carbon NV who do some nice carbon bits.

Take out the boot tray and replace with a carbon sheet - Carbon NV do a nice composite carbon sheet for this purpose. - (carbon-nv performance car composites - products)

New black 5.75 headlights with led inserts - Available in lots of places - ebay, car builder solutions, etc

Quick release steering column ( not sure how easy that is to do) - Usually a very easy job. You simply undo the bolt on the universal joint between top and bottom column and the steering column pulls out (make sure steering lock is off), lots of options, but if money permits, the GO RACE system is top quality and they can also supply you with a top steering column that simply slots back in. https://www.go-race.co.uk/product-page/WestfieldColumnWithGo-RaceQuickRelease

Needs a new exhaust as the current one is a right bodge job. - You maybe able to tackle this job if you have a nice local welder..

re after a top quality QR the Go race is great and simple swap with current one - no welding needed. And 25% off

Also consider @Rednop1 / @AP Carbon for cycle wings and other shiny black weave goodness...

Cheers for that,

I looked at the rally design wishbones but heard a few horror stories so might just stick with the oem ones. In theory they have very low mileage on the bushes.

Yeah seen Mofast carbon wings so ill prob go with them on carbon nv, again seen the boot tray also which looks nice .

Literally just been reading up on the gorace QR system and that looks the best solution to be honest and especially with the discount link above. 😊

Be interested what people have chosen for steering wheels and have they stuck with the factory length column? i could do with a little closer to me than it is currently.

@SBozzy, when you are back fighting fit we will get you out to see (and sit in) some other member cars in the Peaks etc.

In terms of steering wheel, you'll see people using anything from 260mm to 300+mm diameter, suede, leather etc. I tried a few and went for the Momo Team 280mm.

Sounds like you've already caught the horribly wallet destroying Westfield disease called "upgraditus" 😂
