Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 My eldest will be 17 in Oct and we're about to apply for her provisional licence in readiness (and it get's her a form of photo ID for cinema etc). I've just spied this on the DVLA website- After the tell me questions- Hence made me think most of them can't be done in an Aeroscreened Westie! Who's going to give it a try? My daughter's not getting to drive Bagpuss for a long while! 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 I think it would be a brave examiner to step into any Westy never mind one without a screen, good question though. Quote

I will never forget you making me touch the road and then saying don’t ever do that when we are moving. 3 Quote
Greenstreak-Andy D Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Prepare for a fair bit of wallet lightening @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO then it’s university! Ouch! There’s not a chance either my step daughter or my daughter will be driving my westie! Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 The first 40 years are the worst (and the most expensive)🙄 1 Quote

My daughter had a drive of my Westfield 2 weeks after she passed her test and then shared the driving on a trackday a week later. 2 1 Quote

My lad is 26 in a week, he’s never been as much a petrolhead as his dad, still never driven the westie. Although he did drive the Lotus Elise on the in field at Oulton Park many years back! Quote

Then there’s the boomerang kids, split up up with the boyfriend or husband and they’re back😂 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 I think it's a good idea, get them as young as possible and let them see what a car should be like without all these modern driver aids, I do feel these are reducing skills somewhat, especially the reversing bleeper aids, folks don't use mirrors anymore they just listen to the bleeps. I have two scuffs on my rear wheel arch to confirm this.... 1 Quote

Richard (OldStager) Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 It helps if I was in the car though, I came out of the supermarket , trolley in hand and saw a car hit the arch, the driver was just looking foward 😂. When questioned they said, well it didn't bleep so I thought it was clear 😡 1 Quote

pistonbroke Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Brother Pete reversed his new VW up his drive testing the reverse beeper . Guess how he found out that It couldn't see the tow hitch on the caravan he had parked there 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 OOPS They don't see fibreglass either 😔 Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 Wow, her licence arrived today- ordered on the 28th Jan! Shame IVA's and registrations don't operate as slickly! 1 Quote
