Will the car pass the noise test? Oulton's a fairly easy 105db static.

Has the car got enough brake pad material left?

Have the tyres enough tread?

Fuel? Oulton has a fuel station if you're driving there and cant take jerry cans?

They're the obvious ones off the top of my head..  If you've not driven the circuit before you will enjoy it. 😎

@Andrew Thanks

  • New tyres all round
  • New brake pads all round
  • I Passed the IVA earlier this year on there satic test so should be good
  • I have driven the circuit in the past quite a few times but that was 16 - 18 years ago.

When you get to the point, usually in the afternoon, when you think 'I am a driving God' consider going home or having a rest period.  This is the time when I have seen the most incidents and most risks taken.

You may need to have a towing eye fitted, but I'm not sure whether that applies at Oulton Park. Worth checking.

I'm at Thruxton on Sept 1st and have had to fit one for there.

You’ll be fine without one at Oulton, in fact I’ve never had it checked anywhere (but never been to Thruxton)

I drilled a hole through the end of a steel plate (which was the size/shape of a ruler) and attached the other end of it to the underside of the rear most chassis rail, at the back of the car in the middle. Hence a tow hook can now clip on to this hole/bar at the back of the car and drag me out of any gravel/hedge/field etc, backwards. Fingers crossed it never gets used!
