Richard (OldStager) Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Oh, one other thing. Anyone know how long it takes these days to process a passport . I let mine lapse years ago , in fact I don't even know where it went to, lost in some house moves no doubt... Quote
Blatman Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 My last one a coule of years ago took about 3 weeks. Do the forms and photos and then take them to the Post Office. They'll check them and send them to the Passport Office. It seems to smooth the whole process and makes life easier. 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Cheers, not that long then, you also reminded me I ought to update my driving licence photo as well, I have gone grey since it was taken and there is less hair as well. The list of things to do is getting longer. Quote

Also be aware of the new ULEZ (or equivalents) that are taking over Europe, you should be ok if you're just heading to Le Mans but if you want to visit some cities on the way you might find the Westy isn't welcome. 1 Quote

Geez political nonsense, the UK is GB as far as I am concerned. So this is now not acceptable? - madness. But thanks for pointing that out. It's going to make a mess of the bodywork, I had to glue those on... I had not considered the ULEZ thing, I don't think any of my stays over encompass that system, but another thing to check on, thanks. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 You could use the flag/UK badge on the number plate, or have a temporary UK sticker on the back and retain the GB badge. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 I had UK plates as I couldn’t get a GB version in the right size, over two years ago, before I even knew it was going to be a thing! 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Cheers, I may have to, had a look at the GB letters today, and I really don't want to muck up the paintwork, it's not that good as it is without making it worse.😄 I wonder what would happen should a motorist turn up at the ferry or tunnel with GB on the back then, be given the new one I guess . I am half Irish myself ( explains a lot 😁- just kidding NI) on my mothers side, she was born in Dublin , I don't recall her ever berating the GB sticker on the back of her Cortina... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 The popular press would insist it was Sinn Fein who refused to have GB stickers! From what I’ve read so far, GB stickers or badges will just loose their official meaning, they don’t actually need to be removed. (It being accepted that many classics etc have metal badges that would be damaging to actually get off). However an acceptable marking is required alongside, somewhere. FWIW, I may, if anyone starts doing them, put a polished metal style UK badge on, but if not, the blue car will get a chrome style GB badge just like it had before the new tub, and just like my other Westfield has, before it ventures abroad next. Richard (OldStager) Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 Yes, I was wondering if perhaps classic car parts suppliers would either do a replacement for the chrome ones , which having drawn out a rough template today and mocked up I may get away with or a suitable chrome type UK logo badge affair, I don't really want stickers on the car any more, anything I now put on it has to be either enamelled or chromed. Richard (OldStager) Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 I'll email CBS , they are normally pretty good at keeping up with new regs - that is if someone makes them as you say. Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary Response from CBS Hi, We have not received any updates from our supplier, but I think it's safe to assume they will be producing UK badges to comply with the new regulations. The guy who does our purchasing is making some enquires so hopefully you should see them added to our website soon. Thanks, CBS Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Great, I’ve searched a few times, but not found anything yet - it’s a bit early, really, to be fair. Quote
