Hi All,

Thanks,

It would help if you advised what you've currently got. I'm assuming either a 7" or 7 1/2" Ford diff. Some pics would help. Output shaft style will be important too, as I imagine you want something that will drop straight in. Another option would be to have a specialist fit a LSD module to your existing diff. Bara Motorsport of 3J Driveline may be able to help.

There's also different types of LSD, what is your intended use? Road/Track/Sprinting etc? This will help recommendations.

I'm not sure what ratio is recommended for the V8. @AndrewBClarke @John Dolan - Chairmanwhat can you tell us about your diff in your great V8's?

I’ll take a look at the paperwork tonight 😀😀

Ive a 7"Sierra viscous lsd  3.14 on my seight. T5 box.

The 3.36 was the recommended ratio but tend to be like hen's teeth. I think they were mainly in the Granada and Scorpio in a 7.5" casing. I went for a 3.62 Sierra viscous LSD in 7" as they were more readily available and it has been fine, although it does make long journeys a pain as 5th is too low for comfortable cruising. It does make it interesting getting going though. From memory 3.14 ratios were available in both 7 and 7.5" casing.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.

So yes ideally something cheap and easy to fit. Usage will be for fast road, and spirited driving while touring around mountain passes in Europe.

Reason for LSD is to have a bit of fun around mini round abouts, coming out of junctions, maybe the odd baby burnout here and there, all slow speed fun. At the moment I can do all that stuff but it's all with 1 wheel, if you accidently did a burnout you wouldn't even know as it goes in a dead straight line, no snakey stuff, very safe and controllable, but need a bit of danger in my life, I used to do it all the time with my MX5 1.8s which had a LSD.

I've attached some pics of my diff but how no idea on models and ratios, I'm totally new to the westfield world

Hi guys,

Did the pictures not help at all?

I have a 3.36😀

The pictures only tell so much.

It looks like a 7 1/2” diff, as there’s no spacer on the top mount, but the trouble with these Sierra/Scorpio diffs now, is they’ve been around for so long, that many don’t necessarily have the same internals they started with - swapping parts to make the right ratio LSD version etc has been common.

You really need to work out the ratio, count input turns against output turns, to calculate it.
