Kingster
But just tried it - much better method going over the tyre!

And it pulls in the plane the wheel moves in, so no nasty sideloads on the car.
fil46
I use my roll cage to tie my westy down saved miss shaping warm tyres, handbrake on and I keep the car out of get as the rocking back and fore on the trailer shockes the gearbox 1
TAFKARM
Does that not wreck the GRP and the powder coat on the cage?

fil46
Don’t know it till you try it, I have towed for years and found this is best method sits perfect , a bit of load on the suspension stops the car hopping up and down , and if the roll cage won’t hold there is something far wrong , each to there own I suppose
Rednop1
It is a personal choice on how you strap your car to the trailer But i would say strap each wheel individually To the trailer using four straps i strap the way shown in the attached picture I yourstand its not possible with every trailer design but I've towed many many many cars and find this the best way. The way you have shown if the rear strap fails for any reason and they do fail I've had it happen and you brake hard it wouldn't be the end of the world because your westfield would only possibly crash into your own towing vehicle but if the front strap was to fails and you car moves backward that could seriously endangering people following you and that could have a not so happy ending to the story
fil46
Ok so it looks dodgy to some but good straps fit for 5 ton each. failing holding 600kg , front tyre rack will save the toe vehicle and the car sitting on grip tape with the hand brake on can’t see all that going wrong at once , but you never know,

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Reminds me of my old car! It had passed through several hands after I sold it before it was bought by a Club member and moved as above!
