CarbonWest - Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO Posted June 9, 2021 Author Posted June 9, 2021 Not Great for me but the other 3 had a fine time in the Sun! My Alternator failed at Cardiff West Services exit - light came on, then rev counter dropped to 0, then speedo to 30 and when put clutch in at roundabout it died and was dead! Called the recovery and a kindly copper dragged me into the services 200 m away Checked the car and worked my way through battery, fuses, spark etc but wouldn't turn over, with Batt at 12V though ECU was 'protecting' it. Bit the bullet and recovered home And then whipped the Alternator out and thought I had a spare from 2.0 Blacktop but Ford ECU controlled one! So then it was drop the dead Alternator off at Bristol Auto Electricals and call yesterday to say DEAD and not worth repairing - new one from order £141 inc VAT..............Fortunately, Mike Starterman from Kit Car Blats picked up the thread and offered me a new Lucas LRB260 for £81 delivered! So Winner - just picked up today so hope to back on the road tomorrow. As for Pembrey - there is always another Track Day.... 2 Quote
SXRORY Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Great day out. Pembrey is a bit of a mission for most but about 2.5 hours for us Bristol lot. The track is really good it well worth a trip. Some pics let's go Team Bristol -1 (Chris) This was his track car. Colour in the sun was lovely I love a bit of jdm Best session I had was with this vx220 turbo. Had each other pegged for 10 minutes the only downer was a rather tricked out s2000 (first time out since build, I had spoken to him earlier in the day) had a big one right at the end. A fast 4th gear corner onto the straight and clipped the grass and spun into pit wall. It did not look like it would drive again but thankfully driver ok. ☹️ A reminder it can go wrong 1 Quote
