jonjh1964 Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Since I built the car in 2012 the number of track day locations in the South West has steadily reduced with Colerne, Keevil, and Hullavington all stopping leaving Castle Combe and Thruxton as the only regular venues. Yesterday I got an email from Motorsports Events informing me that they've have added 3 dates at Keevil back to their calendar, after a quick call around 5 Dorset Area members are booked for the 23 Jul (with ~half of the 40 available slots already taken) if anyone fancies joining us. Keevil is an old airfield that was resurfaced about 5 years ago; the MSE setup is about 1.5 miles with plenty of tarmac run offs so a relatively safe place for a track day. MSE Keevil Quote
Dommo Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I'm booked on to this for that day, probably taking the MX-5 though. Loved it in the C1 last year, was quite a quick layout. Well it was for everyone else anyway. 2 Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Personally, airfield days are preferable for my relatively low skill level and high fear factor. Loads of run-off and no Armco. I have been to Keevil one December but as it was very near Christmas road-madness weekend (trailering for two hours on the M4 didn't appeal) and frankly bl**** freezing, I opted to use my Z3 instead of my Westfield. It's a nice venue as Airfields go - Abingdon is the best in my experience but I've not been there for a couple of years or more. My son was with us at Keevil and was main reason we went in the winter. His Z4M Coupé is far more compatible with 5ºC air temperatures! It's nice to know that Keevil is back but sad that Hullavington will never be on again. 1 Quote
the stoat Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 I am also booked. Hopefully I will have the camber adjusters tight this time, damn the 'specialists' who set the geometry before my last Keevil outing. 1 Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 I have emailed MSE about the absence of Abingdon dates in their schedule, and the delightful Natasha replied to the effect that Tom Hanks is to blame! Quote Tom Hanks is currently filming on site at Abingdon and so the site is closed to the public until the Autumn at which time we will be back so it is just a temporary suspension of events. We are waiting for confirmation as to exactly when we can return but hope to have some dates available on the website to book soon. 2 Quote
