Fastest in my busa so far is 12.2 at the 2003 Jap day.

That was with crappy yoko avs sport road tyres and my initial smaller supercharger. Spent ages wheel spinning

Will be back there in a couple of weeks to test the Supercharger, 50 shot of NOS and some 10 inch slicks on the rear.

Not a Westy I know, but close enough. I managed 12.9 @ 105mph at Santa Pod about 3 years back. Dry hot day and I was on ACB10's but I still suffered from a lot of wheelspin off the line. This is really where the times can be improved.

Incidentally, I'm now convinced that the rubber on the start line of Santa Pod is counter productive to such a light car. I calibrated an AC22 at Santa Pod which subsequently showed I can knock almost a second off that when charging away from the lights in Droitwich. The A38 there has a lovely grippy surface. Could also be because I was out blatting and the tyres were generally warmer than you can get them after a little burn out at SP.

If you've got the capability to soften up the rear suspension, that'll help with the launch. The car will rock back onto the rear wheels adding weight at the back = more grip off the line. I can't soften mine. I can only change the ride height.

I'm not sure whether softening dampers (some people have "clicky" ones) is as effective as softer springs (hardly something you can change easily anyway).

Any Se7en with a bike engine is devastating. I thought my SLR was quick, but bl**** hell the Westy Mega's are amazing. Would like to see an XTR2 have a go. Are they lighter than a Se7en?

Nige,

I *may* have some footage of that day at Santa Pod.  I think you were also in the lane where they were cleaning up some oil or water and yes, traction did look to be a problem for all the se7ens that day.  Even Alex with his chunky slicks.  I seem to recall Jason Krebbs posting some high 11s with his R500 and just pipping Arnie in the process.

Although everyone has subsequently been surpassed by Mr Edmunds and his 10 second runs !!  Did he ever break into the 9s ??

16th July 2000. I'm not entirely sure that was the same day Arnie and Jason were there. The Crocker Bros were there, one in the Westy and the other in a Ginetta I think. I think GeeFin was there too, certainly one of the CF Westies was there. I've got a shot from the control tower looking down on all the Se7ens and I can't see Arnie or Jason's cars. I'm almost sure they had a day there a little after ours.

I'm not sure what Dave E's got to now. He seems to run mostly at Brighton and other Southerly events. I'm no longer a BlatChatter so I'm not so up to date as I used to me.

I've got pics from the day from Kevin Lawson and someone else (no name on them I'm afraid). It was a good day and I keep promising myself another go. Maybe this year eh?  ???

Flood control... I got notified of that when trying to add this post a second after I posted the other one... Good idea.  :t-up:

Anyway I was going to ask if you have any footage of Alex and me then I'd be most grateful if it were emailable, or ftp-able. I've got broadband so size doesn't matter (ooer).

Not sure of the date to be honest, but it was the "Clash of the Titans" event - you vs. Alex.  I cetainly recall everyone you mentioned being there (it was GeeFin) though.  I think Mr Andrews was also in attendence with his Cossie Robin Hood.

The footage, which hopefully I still have, would be on a PAL VHS tape.  I could post it to you and you could covert it to DVD, or if you don't have access to that I'll post it to dad and get him to do it.  Sadly I think I've gone over the original footage on the mini-DV tapes.

I may have some emulsion prints of that day too. I'll have to have a dig around..........

Sadly I don't have the ability to convert VHS to DVD, but I'd be just as happy to receive it on CD or as an email. I can read DVD's (laptop has a DVD drive) but the quality's less important to me than actually watching me thrash Wongy's ass.

Mr BM, if you've any prints you could scan and email, I'd be most interested... more evidence.  :p
