Census 2021

Together with my membership pack, a Census letter arrived.

Those 10 years went a bit too quick for my liking...

Anyway, it seems they want you do complete this online, as there is no form as there was 10 years ago.

Anyone else done the online thing, anything I need to watch for?.

I have done mine and it was straight forward enough.

What did surprise was all the different "genders" for people and what they identify with.

I can remember the days when it was "male and female".

Maybe I because I don't get out much but surely there ARE only two genders - unless science has somehow intervened. But I know what you mean - sign of the times.

But it does give the option of filling in beforehand if you know who will be in the property on the 21st.

I must admit, having the cover letter to hand it does say "Complete the census on Sunday the 21st March 2021 or as soon as possible after"

Now how is that going to work with 60 million folks logging onto a webite at the same time?.

The Gov website crashed the day the tier system was announced...

Giving away too many secrets to the ONS...

The gender question, there was a high court ruling on this earlier this week.

I haven't opened mine yet but if there is no actual paper form then I'm going out for 24 hours on March 21st. Should be quite a challenge for my father who, at 92 tomorrow, does not own a PC or a smart-phone. Not sure what he's supposed to do if there is no paper form.

The cover letter does not say this, but I think if you haven't filled it in a reasonable timespan, they will send you a paper form, as they pointed out they want to save paper and save the tax payer the costs of printing etc  ( yeah right...) but anyway, the old boy over the road has no tech at all - just a landline phone.. so yeah what do they do?.

OMG.

Have you read some of those, I mean for pete's sake who would want to be called a Gender m...u...c...k... Come enough is enough surely.

Defined as

Similar to the term gender bender, it involves the act of combating or dismantling the gender binary and stereotypes through a gender identity, expression, or presentation that challenges existing norms and expectations in a given cultural context.

Actually I should point out, because what I said could be read a few ways,

I am NOT anti gay or anything like that, it's just I don't understand why we humans have to have so many labels for what is an essentially a male / female  description.

Just in case folks think I am not with the 21st century.

Moving on from the gender thing please.

I have just filled the website in, no mention about HAVING to do it on the 21st, but as has been said above needs to be filled out for the circumstances at that date.

Took 11 mins start to finish and not as detailed as the 2011 one was, that one asked how many cars I owned ?.

Very painless and I wanted to do it now in case of a mad rush on the 21st when the website is bound to crash.
