But yeah, no chedder supper for me now. I find good quality semi-dark chocolate does it for me. On one memorable (or maybe instantly forgettable) occasion in Holland, I had finished my day, had a meal and a pint with my co-workers, went back to the hotel and had a couple of squares of lovely belgian chocolate. About 3am I awoke in a massive panic, sweating and screamming "SNAKES" at the top of my voice. I still wonder what my fellow guests were thinking...
Richard (OldStager)
That was funny, but dark chocolate produces other issues for me , not a discussion for a lunchtime however.....
Blatman
Theres another lightbulb moment. Lunch isn't a time... One eats when one is hungry and tries to avoid chocolate after 6pm...
Richard (OldStager)
What IS time anyway?.
Blatman
A linear measurement of an ever decreasing (yet arguably infinite) commodity. On the face of it there should be plenty but the reality is there is never enough...
Richard (OldStager)
I could go down the linear measurement part of that, since that is relative. For me time is no more than entropy doing its thing.

Richard (OldStager)
That's what I mean Ian, its relative. Seems we are back to science stuff again, mind you I love stuff like this. ☺️
Blatman
OK what about this.. If the universe is "everything", and it is constantly expanding, what is it expanding in to. There must be "space" (sorry) to accommodate the expansion, so what is that "space" into which the universe expands? Or We know the speed of light, but what is the speed of dark? Richard (OldStager)
Ok, Well we still don't know if it IS everything due to the possibility of multiple universes, but on the assumption that it is, IF the universe IS infinite then it isn't expanding into anything, speed of dark has no photons to speak of to measure, dark is an absence of light ( photons) I just googled that and Tyson says something close. Richard (OldStager)
I wasn't too far off for the first question though, goes into more detail here http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/about-us/104-the-universe/cosmology-and-the-big-bang/expansion-of-the-universe/623-what-is-the-universe-expanding-into-intermediate ETA Just googled the light one says about the same as my thoughts, but I do have a problem with speed of shadows. How can you have a shadow without a light source?, besides which then it would not be dark by definition. ---- The speed of light zips along at 299,792,458 m/s. But what about the speed of dark? Dark is really just the absence of photons, but dark shadows can appear to have some pretty amazing properties. ------- https://www.iflscience.com/physics/what-speed-dark/
Nemesis
Sooooooo..... looking at all of the posts in this thread I have to ask if any of us have been approached by a member of the trick cyclery fraternity? I’m sure there’s enough material for a modest conference and at least a few openings for some private practice.... it gives me such a warm feeling to know that I’m a member of such a great and eclectic forum, stay safe friends but not necessarily sane.
