FRIDAY 9th July 2021 WSCC Blyton Trackday

As I'm new to car trackday (done quite a few bike ones) can someone run me through the format please. E. G is it Open pitlane? It'll help me plan and decide if I drive up on the day or the night before and what to bring (spare fuel tools jaffa cakes, the essentials). What are people doing that come up on the Thursday?

BBQ, tyre kicking and taking the p*** out of each other is standard procedure.

Some setting up of alloted spaces for the sprint. Many get there from 2pm onwards to set up there homes(tents and vans) for the weekend.

I wouldn't worry to much about tools as there are plenty of us there for the weekend who empty the garages into our cars.

I'm booked in as well looking forward to it.

It will be a great day out. Make sure you get around and have a chat. Don't be afraid to speak to people and ask questions if you want to know something. If you need help or tools. As Simon says between us we probably could rebuild a space shuttle with the tools that most of us take

As I said earlier - you simply will not get a better track day to do as your first one than this. The atmosphere and driver etiquette is always super friendly especially as the vast majority of cars and drivers are from this club. Plus, Blyton is a very forgiving track with plenty of run off.

Thursday night is a good laugh - so turn up with beer and stop over with the lads.

As for fuel, I tend to go through two Jerry cans plus whatever is in the tank - there’s no fuel on site or within a few miles so bring your own.

But if you use full throttle you might need more

Thanks Chris. It’s about an hour and a half from where I live (Leicester) so I will look to come up the Thursday night then drive back Friday evening. I'll have to get a tent from somewhere. I have one in the attic but it’s not seen the light of day since Snetterton 2010... I'll be driving the Westfield there as I'm sure a lot will though if I enjoy the track/car experience then I will be looking at trailer options going forward as it makes life a lot simpler.  I had a quick look online re petrol and there are a couple within a few miles so as long as getting in and out of the circuit isn't an issue I'll come with one Jerry can then nip out to top it up if needed. I assume any garage/pits space will fill up quickly on a first come first server basis? I know I could ask these questions directly from Blyton but it may help others that are considering coming along. There are still plenty of spaces left (half full yesterday I was told).

Nearest fuel is about a 15min drive each way, so if you can squeeze a jerry can in the passenger seat then you can nip out at lunch time to refill 👍
