Manual choke

Recommended Posts

I want to fit a manual choke to my pinto engined Westie.

Running twin Dellortos.

Where's good to buy the bits?

Do I need bespoke parts or are there any universal items?

Do you really need a choke  ???  ??? Surely a couple of throttle presses to prime it and then fire up  ;)

I've had a manual choke on my CVH since 89 and never needed to use it  ;)  :D

It can be a bit reluctant in the cold weather, even with a couple of blips of the throttle.

Using the choke levers works a treat without straining the battery. For the sake of a cable and necessary fittings seems like a good idea. Saves popping the bonnet.

I guess it's only a prob in winter, so may not actually get round to it!

Try up to four prods (once the leccy pump has filled the float chambers). Once it fires, gently prod throttle to keep it 'alive'. It's a technique thing really. The choke merely richens the mixture up, so does prodding the throttle, which activates the accelerator pump jets.  :)
