This always puzzles me. You buy a 500 bhp 6.3 litre monster of a car then fit such quality ditchfinders

Don't think that petrol can in the boot will get you very far... 😂

Sadly it’s fallen into the realm where the folk who buy them can’t actually afford to run them properly. That looks like an extremely brave purchase to me...

Come on @Rush Motorsport, surely you've read the suggestions and gone out and bought something completely different by now?

Not yet.... I’m considering a 5.7l Grand Cherokee...

I had the 3l Mercedes diesel and that was the best tow car I ever owned although my use mostly included maximum weight 3.5 tonnes where there is little choice. Off road was acceptable but highway cruising was sublime especially in the huge armchairs. I wanted the petrol with gas conversion but they are very rare.

I think we’ve settled on “none of the above” and are looking for a Disco 4.

Or an x5

If it is not too late, take a look at the Mercedes CLS shooting brake.  It is weirdly cheaper than an E class despite being more expensive when new.  I have one and think it is great.  Very very comfortable.  Only complaint is the boot is smaller than you would expect.

My father in law has had 3 x5's the latest iteration being an msport 3.0d have to say its a very nice car. I shall be trying to buy it when he comes to move it on

I’ve got a Labrador and I’m not sure he’d appreciate the CLS roofline!

Dont need to decide until end of December when the company car goes back anyway.

My word, that's brave. I had a lease one from new and it still came with electrical/electronic gremlins. It was a fantastic car though, and I absolutely loved it. Just wouldn't want to be the owner...

I had the 5.7 in my Camaro, lovely engine. Only problem I had with that car was the LSD. Can’t better the sound of a small block Chevy.

... just add petrol... just add petrol... just add petrol.
