flanker7
When fitting the body and riveting in position, would anyone recomend fitting an adhesive padded strip to the chassis rail prior to riveting on the body?
Mark Stanton
Used silicon sealant to bed body to chassis when rivetting - may help and minimise water penetration & rust build up within chassis when drilling all those holes
steppenwolf
Using a padded strip could cause more problems than it solves. The area where the rivet is inserted will be under more stress as it will 'cone' in with the edges held high by the padding whereas without the padding the whole of the glass fibre surface will be flat against the chassis - or am I simply talking b*ll*cks? Mark Stanton
or am I simply talking b*ll*cks? Nope The padded foam strip should if anywhere go on top to help provide a weather proof seal and minimise gaps in fibreglass
