TableLeg
I've really enjoyed the technical type articles in Westfield World of late. I would like to ask those responsible if we could have some more please? Maybe this could be a good place for suggestions. How about........ Cleaning techniques and products for Westfield Gelcoat bodywork or Repairing cracks and scratches to Gelcoat bodywork Anybody with experience in either of the above fancy having a go at writing an article?
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Your asking the wrong people Jared! Though I agree with everything you say! Its the members that we need the technical articles from though. And that’s what can be hard to get hold of at times.
Greenstreak-Andy D
@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club SecretaryCan you share the deadline for technical articles submission timing? I have a couple of ideas that may be of wider interest. Andy
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
There aren’t any individual deadlines, just the regular mag deadlines. Copy deadlines for the next mag are always listed in the pre-ceding mag, (in a panel inside the back, typically), in this case, it lists August 21st as the next dead line. 👍

The WWW + UTube is bursting with Gelcoat repairs -maintenance - polishing- how to's etc. but most of the stuff isn't specifically car related . In the Marine Industry however 99% of liesure craft power boats , yachts , sailing / rowing dinghies , you name it are made from the same stuff as your Westfield bodywork . I'm sure doing a search on "gel coat repair " will get you all the info you need Edit to add Google comes up with 17.5 million results

I would have thought that collectively the readers of WW could learn something useful and Westfield related without the need for having search the internet for such information. Whilst I myself find these sort of articles interesting to read I think they would benefit a wider audience in the WW magazine.

Ting, ting, ting, we have a winner! We've had similar features in the past on a number of occasions, and will gladly do so again, I'm sure. However, it comes back to my previous comment, we need the raw content from Club members. If it's already been on the forum, it doesn't matter, you'd be surprised how many read WW tech articles with no idea they've previously been on-line. The thing is, the format of build threads, and other tech posts on the forum, is that while all the info maybe there, they are very rarely in the right format and style, that would allow a third party to virtually copy and paste the same thing into the mag. It needs the original author to go through and pull it together into a standalone article, and of course, photographs compressed and reduced in nature for the web aren't great for the mag, we need the originals. With build threads, obviously, the whole thread would be too long, normally. But we often seen useful and informative segments on one or more particular facets of the build, whether it's fitting the bodywork, or customising some aspect of the car. Also, don't forget that while we have some members of the forum that make me look like a newcomer(!) We have plenty more that join the Club, buy a Westfield, satisfy that particular itch/cross it off their bucket list and move on. So just because an article maybe remembered from ten or twenty years ago, or more, doesn't mean that a refreshed and updated version isn't perfectly relevant now. A final point on the magazine; please don't forget we are looking for a new editor/publisher as Peter is moving on next year. We don't necessarily need someone with direct Westfield or Club knowledge, though both would be useful. They must have knowledge and experiance of the magazine production industry, and being a fellow petrol head is vital. It is the Club's only paid roll (technically Magazine Editor is the title), and they will be expected to handle all submissions and put together the magazine, four times a year. It is a commercial function. A fresh eye and ideas would also be advantageous.
