b16gnr Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 after a laptop to ECU data cable for an old MBE 956E if anybody has one laying around?
the stoat Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 I am sure you can use the one from the 967 and instructions to make one, including a parts list is on SBDs site, see here. If you have a soldering iron it will take less than 30 minutes to make. I do have one but unfortunately need it at the moment to trouble shoot a digital dash to ECU comms issue.

RICHARD+PHILIP Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Spookily I am also looking for a 956e cable (have a laptop) EFI to list them on there website for £22 has anyone tried using one from there? SBD ones are £100 https://efi-parts.co.uk/product/mbe-serial-comms-programming-lead/
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 No, but I’ve had a DTA lead from them, as I couldn’t be bothered ordering in and soldering up all the bits to make one, and it was fine, decent quality and did exactly what it said on the tin!

John Hoyle Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Hi , I agree with mr wizzer. I had a very old mbe 970 8 injector ecu mapped by Damian at day tuner,he was very helpfull and it was a great morning having the car mapped by him.
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 I'm in Sussex and b16gnr is in Dorset so Yorkshire is a bit far for a tune. However I have found a place near Gatwick airport who can do 956e tuning
b16gnr Posted June 24, 2020 Author Posted June 24, 2020 yes, thanks chaps however it is a bit far! i have rang everybody around here and no one will touch it stating that either it is too difficult to map because it keeps crashing or it needs extra hard wear to do it and they haven't got the equipment! so unfortunately my car is now off the road until i can save enough for a new ECU, (possible loom) get it fitted and then set up! so it will be a while
jim_l Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 I am surprised you have reached that conclusion, a new ECU and loom is probably £800 or more, then an RR session for that could be £400. A day trip to NMS (Northampton Motorsport) will get you on the road for a fraction of the above . You then have a window of some years to save up for the new ECU etc. Just make sure you don't have any jobs planned that would interfere with the set-up (but that applies whatever your ECU plans) Jim
