Tony B
Its finally roadworthy after many months of pain trying to match the paint, took her for a spin yesterday and took her to Brands today. Observations, I need to add some camber to her, problem being its a Live axle, is there a kit you can buy to do this? if not how much to convert to IRS and whats the live axle bits worth. Second comment/Question is I have a standard Live Axle Diff, great for 0-60 but pretty useless on track due to the R1's Gearing... I need to change the ratios, a cateringvan geezer reckonned a 3.6 ish one but am open to suggestions/recommendations. I was hitting the rev limiter in 6th at about 120 which is pretty useless on most track days really.. Would be great on Sprints I guess.. TIA Tony.. P.S. It was Bl00dy Cold this morning P.P.S Im now deaf

Blatman
if not how much to convert to IRS and whats the live axle bits worth. There is NO commonality between the rear of an IRS chassis, and the rear of a live axle chassis, so it's likely to be expensive. Lack of a decent jig won't make completing the work any easier either...... Lowest ratio for a live axle diff is, I believe, a 3.36, from an Escort Mk2 van/estate, IIRC, although I'll stand to be corrected....... Chris Elworthy
. Observations, I need to add some camber to her, problem being its a Live axle, is there a kit you can buy to do this? See also - response to your thread on Techie Talk. Very small amounts of camber and / or toe in/out are achieveable by shimming the outer bearing. I suggest that you call Northampton Motorsport on 01604 766624 and ask to speak to the Suspension set up chap whose name escapes me this evening. He has explained this very thing to me in the past.
