TAFKARM Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 I’ve never scrapped a car before, what’s the deal? Do they pay me? Do I pay them? Rust in Pieces Lionel. Quote
Stuart Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Depends on the current price of scrap Russ. This will give you an idea. https://www.cartakeback.com/ Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 If the value of the scrap is more than the collection cost, they pay you, and if less, you pay them! Quote

Steve (sdh2903) Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Its a bit trickier than it used to be. Well to scrap it officially anyways. Needs to be done by a registered recycler. https://www.gov.uk/scrapped-and-written-off-vehicles Think you'll be lucky to just get them to collect it for free. Quote
Andrew Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 How many pieces of silver did you get for him? @RussH 😉 When I built my Westy ..late 90s.. I bought a tidy Sierra Sapphire for the engine and box. I deliberately left the lights and mint interior intact thinking I'd get more for it at the breakers.. Towed it to the yard.. said I wanted the wheels off it.. and the crane driver swung his grab claw round .. grabbed it by the roof smashing the windows.. lifted it a couple of feet while I removed the wheels.. ten minutes later it was a cube! 🙂 Quote

I used to work in the industry and our biggest shredder would do 350 cars in an hour 1 Quote
