ROC Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Just a warning, I managed to mislay relicensing form and did not SORN Westy straight away. It is now taxed but just received a £25 fine. The DVLA is giving zero tolerance, the day after the tax expires is the start of the 'offence'. Hope this saves someone a few quid. Rich Quote
DickieB Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Also, note that SORN lasts for only 1 year, and you must re-SORN it every year just as you would re-tax it. Quote
david.c Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Filled out and sent off a V890 a few days ago, after seeing the recent ad campaign. My tax expired end of September so I am keeping my fingers crossed. David Quote
ROC Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 David, You'll be lucky if you avoid it, my tax ran out after yours and I still got done! Rich. Quote
windy Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Phone them up and tell them that you sent the form off - this works. Also emphasize the fact that you weren't to know that they hadn't received it as they did not send you an acknowledgement. Stupid muppets. The SORN declaration is another useless piece of administration that is costing us money and not solving the problem of untaxed vehicles. Quote
david.c Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Phone them up and tell them that you sent the form off - this works. Yep - Already done that Windy Have to agree with you........it won't catch the people that don't register their vehicles in their name. David Quote

chris_p Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Soap box time...... All I can say is, it is about time the DVLA got their priorities right, and concentrate on all those people who drive their cars day in and day out on our public roads without tax.....insurance or licences.....what a farce! Timo Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 scrap road tax and put 5p on a litre of fuel. fair to everyone! Quote
david.c Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 scrap road tax and put 5p on a litre of fuel. fair to everyone! Much better system But on an average 12,000 miles @ 30/gallon it only needs to be 1p per litre. David Quote
