I'm having problems trying to find somewhere to compete in my zetec seiw westy.  Has the standard factory injection which means i can't compete in the 750motor club's kit car series.  I'm Know i can do hillclimbing and sprinting but was realy after some track action and preferably some indurance events..  Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Has the standard factory injection which means i can't compete in the 750motor club's kit car series.

Why? Does the 750MC insist on a particular requirement for induction, or something?

Trawl the web for the SEMSEC series, and also the JCC Centurion Challenge.

As for "factory standard injection", which factory? Westfield or Ford? I ask, because (Westfield) "factory standard" for a Speedsport car is a proper throttle body set up, which I'm sure would be allowed by either of the two championchips I've mentioned.......not sure why (if) the 750MC would ban that sort of induction.

However, confusion will reign until you tell us what type of injection system you have, and why it's disallowed by the 750MC.......we may be able to offer other options too.....

Its the standard injection plenum from the escort Si that the engine came from with the factory "madness" Ecu and loom (its and MBE unit).  The 750 motor clubs kit car rules say that injection is not allowed (twin carbs etc etc).  Don't know bout the roadsports one though have to check it out.

Cheers steve just checked out the 750 motorclub site, looks like thats the very job although it'd have to run in class A which means ill get eaten.  Still should all be good fun.  Now all i need is a trailer and some cash....

How about fitting 2x40 DCOE webbers and an Alpha ECU and join the factory based race series.

Please ask if you need more details. Either me or Richard Smith at Westfield.

Go on you know you want to do it. It is the best single make series out there. In the 750MC series you will be competing with other cars/specs/wallets. In our championship everything is restricted to keep costs low. This does mean that you need to initially build the car to the regs, but once built it becomes easy to run.

well that would be the obvious route apart from the fact that the cost is so high on an engine ive only just built....  Think ill stick with the injection for now and who knows mabey ill get a second engine and build it on carbs...  cheers for the info all the same.

I don't think that you'll find fitting twin 45's that expensive, you should be able to pick up a compleat setup from somebody going to throttle bodies.

In fact I think Paul at Plays Kool may have a guy after selling this lot at the moment. I think he wanted £600 for it but I recon you should be able to get 2nd hand twin 45's & alpha management for less than £500.

Gotta agree with Mr Scarfe  :D If you wanna go circuit racing in your Westfield then the BARC organised series is the best place  ;)  ;) .

It is on very equal terms compared to many other championships  ;)  :D

P.S. Andy - I think its in the regs that twin 40 Webers are used rather than 45's  ;)  :D

Hmmm... By the sound of that statement you have modified the engine from standard. Am I correct? If so this would NOT be eligible for the series. The internals of the engine (cams, pistons, crank, ports, valves springs etc) must all be completely standard ford parts.

mabey ill get a second engine and build it on carbs

Yes that would probably be best.

If you (or anyone else for that matter) are interested in more details do please ask. I have put the technical regs on the web site so you can have a look at these.

I haven't touched the internals, when i said i'd just built the engine i ment i'd just got it in the car and got it running!  500 squid doesnt seem to bad and i know i can get a decent zetec for about 250.  Damn looks like i'll end up spending my new car fund on going racing.... :bangshead:   Wheres that demon tweeks catalogue
