NigelO Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I've always had a "woven" stainless grille in the nosecone of my Westie - it looks decent, and is durable and strong. However, I now have my new carbon nosecone (which sadly has to go back, as the paint code for Chrome Yellow was nothing like the actual colour of my car) However, I'm not sure the stainless grille suits the new nosecone and I'm wondering if a different grille would suit better So - looking at the pictures below, do you have any suggestions? 1 Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I have a black plastic grill from eBay. It worked out at nearly £8.00. 1 Quote
Weekend Warrior Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 @NigelO I Quite like the look of your grille , the diamond shape , and carbon surround sit well together ,. I personally prefer yours to the other 2 Have you thought about just spraying it black ? ‘if you decide to change it and are getting rid I’ll have it for mine if it fits . Quote
Jim RS Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I've just been upgrading my grill to the plastic type from the original Westfield diamond mesh to improve the airflow getting into the nose cone, rough calculations give me 50% better airflow. I would point out that looking at your wire mesh the plastic type would reduce airflow so please take care that you don't make more work. As Weekend Warrior said easiest option would be to spray black and retain cooling. Quote
SXRORY Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 As others have said spray it black I reckon. Job doned! 👍 Quote
Jackv4 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I like your grill, Just needs to go black, Painted Quote
DMc Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 I really like that mesh @NigelO, it would looks spot on plaited black. im trying to source grille mesh with minimum air flow restriction and that looks ideal, where did you get it? Quote

It was already fitted to the car when I bought it, sorry. There's plenty on t'internet though - just search for "woven stainless mesh", or similar 1 Quote
CarbonWest - Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 I've changed to new plastic as above as my original Westy one was rusty and broken in places. I personally like the mesh but would also suggest a coat of Matt Black? Quote
SootySport Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 As above, just paint your existing grille. Quote
