“Buy a Dualit” they said, “it’ll never break but if it does you can repair it”, they said

 

4 slice toaster, when we pop the right side down, it trips the circuit breaker in the House. 
 

Ive emptied the crumbs, started dismantling it but can’t see anything obvious, what should I be looking for? I assumed the element might be obviously knackered. 
 

I’m struggling to dismantle it any further without looking at instructions.

Hmmm, so I’ve given it a test fire while it was stripped and it works now....!

Sounds like you've fixed it 😀

Burnt toast could conduct enough to cause an earth leakage fault, so maybe removing the cover has shaken a crumb loose?

Sometimes we do toasted tea cakes, maybe there was too much currant

At least you didn’t need any spares to fix it, there are some real rare-bits in those toasters!
