Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative
I was with my friend last night, she will be 50 years old this year and for her 50th birthday present she is going to watch the F1 in Barcelona. She has paid the deposit and now it is time to pay the balance. The travel company have told her that if the F1 gets cancelled she will still have to go to Barcelona unless travel to Barcelona itself has travel restrictions. She does not particularly want a holiday in Barcelona so she has cancelled the trip and is gutted. 1
Simon Marks - North Oxfordshire AO
I so sympathize with your friend, Julie, but can't help think that she has done the right thing. After the constant confrontation of the last three years "discussing" Brexit and now moving on to this, our corner of the world seems to have been dumped on its head. Formula i will be back when everything recovers and, whilst she has taken a hit now, I am sure that she will find a delayed visit worth the wait. Why should her 51st birthday year be any less special than the 50th? Simon

Sparkymart
Same thing really with le Mans I've just had to pay my trip to the LM classic. And I've just seen the they have already postponed the 24hr bike race in April so I've got my fingers crossed that this covid19 clears up fast but I think its going to be here for a while yet
Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator
I was meant to go Skiing in Northern Italy 2 weeks ago, we pulled the plug, luckily the travel agent let us postpone the holiday until next season as a repeat customer so we only lost cost of ryanair flight but like @Martin Rice (Sparkymart) - Cornwall AO I'me due to go to LM classic so hoping its still a goer but looking a bit dodgy
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
We are due to fly from Bangkok to Sydney on Sunday (yeah yeah I know, you can say it if you want to 😛) for a family wedding. One of the wife's brothers who lives in Abu Dhabi has been told by his company that if he goes and gets any virus or quarantine he will not be covered by the company health care insurance, nor will he get paid if off sick as a result of traveling, guess what, today he cancelled the trip with only two days to go 😟
Alan France
Now retired I have time to log into my pension fund each day, what a cliff edge. We managed our ski trip in early Feb but can’t see our May holiday happening. All we can do is trust the science, take practical steps to minimise risk and help each other when we can. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

They both are doctors working in two different Sydney hospitals and both places have covid cases among the patients and staff. I suspect that it will metamorphose from pandemic to endemic over the mid-term and those who survive will gain resistance and those who don't... I and my wife are both in the danger zone due to age and (in her case) reduced lung function from radiotherapy damage and slightly reduced immune system. Luckily as we're retired we can control our exposure to a great extent. Wife has three weekly drug infusions in hospital as an outpatient though, and only a primary school is a better infection source!

DonPeffers
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.formula-1-launches-virtual-grand-prix-series-to-replace-postponed-races.1znLAbPzBbCQPj1IDMeiOi.html Formula 1 launches Virtual Grand Prix Series to replace postponed races. Likely no real F1 racing until June at the earliest. I wish the TV would stop saying coronavirus for most young people is a mild illness as it will breed complacency and non-adherence to health guidelines. Today on TV a top journalist asked Matt Hancock, Health Secretary, if he could guarantee that UK would not see the situation currently in Italy. How anyone can guarantee anything in a new pandemic situation is beyond me and I considered the question ridiculous. If the public want things to return to fairly normal anytime soon then following the social distancing and other guidelines is essential. tex
Tbh I see the whole season being wiped out. With half the points just about available it will be interesting to say the least even if it started in Canada. I can't see it tbh. The race attracts people from all over the world so every country has to have a virus containment policy working before it will be deemed safe... That's gonna take a LONG time as places like USA and Canada are only just getting it. 3months + I reckon. We've been told 3 weeks off work but tbh I can't see that being a return date... Everywhere is still shut and still closing down now more and more
