Smudge62
Whats the general feeling about the consumer service that AIM provide I consider it very poor, I purchased an external power lead to connect my camera to a 12v supply on my car, the camera wouldn't charge when connected so I assumed the camera had a fault and sent it back to AIM to be checked over, they gave it a clean bill of health and said the lead must be at fault, I told the it was new but they insisted it had to be faulty so I purchase another one, yes it cured the fault so I went back to them and got a refund for the cable but they won't refund the cost of checking the camera plus all the recorded delivery postage to send to them and then back to me. I think this is not on as the camera was only sent to them as I never gave it a thought that a brand new power lead could be faulty.
Steve (sdh2903)
No they're not the best. Not by a long stretch. Especially when you compare to a competitor like race technology. Look how they looked after @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO when his went tits up in europe. You struggle to even get aim to answer a simple email or return a call.
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
@Smudge62 did you buy direct or via a distributor? @Plays-Kool stock them and would have looked after you better, I suggest.
Steve (sdh2903)
I've always bought mine from luke and hes been a great help. However I think luke has had his frustrations with them aswell.
Tim Reid
I've had mixed experience with them. They did check, fix and provide a loan dash at no cost but it took some effort on my part. I had less helpful responses from them on two other topics but to be fair both turned out to be issues which I was responsible for. One was the configuration of my ECU and the other was a wiring error. I do feel they could have been more helpful but they are running a business for their products not other people's. I also used Luke at Playskool who was amazing. Very helpful. Couldn't have done more. In my opinion you need to think about your case from their point of view. If it was your business... A customer returns and item for checking which has an agreed fee. You spend time (money) running various checks and it checks out ok. Under the terms of the return agreement this is chargeable. The fault is with another item which the customer didn't return for checking.
AdamR
Sounds absolutely fair to me.

Smudge62
I do agree that checking the camera was what I asked for I was just a bit miffed that if they hadn't have sold me a faulty power lead in the first place I would have never sent the camera back to them to be checked The initial cost of the lead at £42 ended up costing me three times that. When I phoned them I was told that the connector plug is a delicate soldered joint and I must have stressed it, I am not a idiot and that was a insult, the cable never worked from the first time I plugged it in so must have been faulty from the day it was manufactured. neptune
Seems to me a little goodwill gesture on their part would have been sensible and paid dividends in the long run. The level of negative publicity they have now received, they will doubtless pay significantly more for. The old saying a happy customer tells 1 or 2 people an unhappy customer tells a hundred is always worth bearing in mind in business.
Kit Car Electronics
With after-market and motorsport products it's easy to overlook the importance of choosing the right retailer. I've seen many times how even 2 seemingly identical applications can bring different fitting problems - without commenting on the original post, I'd always recommend finding a supplier/re-seller that you're comfortable communicating with, as they're often closer to the action and more involved with individual sales than the original manufacturer can be... Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
It’s also worth bearing in mind who you’re dealing with; unless going directly to AiM in Italy, you will be most likely, dealing with the UK distributor. Not, the actual manufacturer. I have dealt with AiM UK, who have been OK, though when it comes to buying, I’ve always bought through Luke at PlaysKool, except where I’ve picked the odd bit up second hand.
