Gerry41 Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Hi, Hopefully someone can help. Please. I'm trying to build a 2019 FW, kit collected October 2019, from a 2013 manual. Several expletives are deleted at this point. OK. So I believe that the fuses go through the left hand hole in the scuttle plate. Does anyone know where the other block goes? I've shown my fear that it goes through the other scuttle hole - green arrow. Please say this is not so. I really don't want to take the blocks apart and feed the whole of the dashboard and rear loom through this hole. If not, where does the block and the grommet on the main bundle go? Thanks in advance, Gerry (in Hertfordshire) Quote
Si.Dalziel Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Here’s a pic of mine for reference looks like your ok. The hole you have left is used for the ecu to engine harness Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Welcome @Gerry41 I took my whole loom out 3 times when building mine. You'll soon learn plenty of new swear words! I'd suggest you read some of the of build threads on here and make notes of what is of interest/relevant as we all build different etc. It's also worth dry building (i.e. checking off the car that you've got all the bits for what you plan to do in the weeks ahead) to ensure you've got all the bits and the right bits. It's all worth it in the end when you get that IVA pass and then get to drive the car you've build once registered. Why not create a build thread yourself? Others will help and guide as you build. Someone kindly spotted I'd mounted my fuel pump the wrong way round on mine. This would have been a pig to find later on! 1 Quote
tolf Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Hi Gerry There are a few of us in Barnet if you wanted to come and take a look at our cars. You can see where we hid the fuses and relays! Cheers Ian Quote
Gary Taylor Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Welcome aboard as above start a build thread with plenty of pictures and the assembled members will keep you right with any questions. never be shy of asking a question either good luck with the build Quote
Gerry41 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 Hi all, Thank you for your - quick - responses, particularly Si with the picture. Looks like I will have to take the wires out of the multi-block with relays (or whatever they are). Does not seem correct. However, I will continue with a trial assembly until it looks correct. Ian: I'll find out how to contact you and arrange a meeting. Again, thanks all. I will be back! Gerry Quote

Gerry yours looked correct they come out of the hole with the main wiring loom close to the dash and sit generally on the Ecu tray or wherever you want to mount them. Althogh yours look like they are coming out on the right of the car rather than the left side Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 It's perfectly normal to have to disconnect the fuses blocks to pass them through the holes. The relays need to be removed from their holders, and where there are multiple holders clipped together, you will usually need to slide them apart, but they will fit through the openings without further disassembly. To a degree your in an area where there aren't hard and fast "rules", the bare building blocks are provided for you, it's up to you as the car builder to decide exactly what route you want to take, as so many builds are ever sol slightly different to each other, as the builder adds various personal touches etc. Quote
