Looking to buy a Westfield

Good morning all, right people straight into it I am selling my beloved 200sx because I really don't use it enough so I want to make way for a track car. I really don't want to use my E46 M3 as a out and out track slag as it would get rather expensive very quickly I can imagine so I'm thinking of buying a Westfield as a backroad blaster and track toy. Now I can imagine people on here will have had plenty of experience with them so I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to look for, what engines to go for or to avoid and so on. This will be going to the ring in July so please keep that in mind too :p

Two have caught my eye so far, one is owned by a friend of a friend and he told me he was looking to sell it (£5,000) and that's the car that has set it all off really. It's a 28 year old Westfield painted British racing green with a full wet weather kit and I think a 1600 Xflow sierra based car with only 1,600 miles from new. It's a old man who has it and unfortunately is on Holiday till the 29th so I can't go round to view it again properly or get any more info till then. The other is from a member on here (7heaven) with a 2.0 Blacktop Ztech in and it looks like a nice tidy thing.

Just after some thoughts from people who have may owned one and if anyone know's of someone with one for sale then give me a shout or if anyone has one local to Teesside ish that they wouldn't mind taking me out in or letting me sit in as they are both narrow body's and I don't know if I will actually fit so if anyone can that would be smashing!

Is it just for you or will you be carrying passengers?

I tend to look for more torquey engines as I am usually taking the mrs out with me in mine.

If you are looking at more of a solo performance you will get away with a different set up.

Coming from a 200sx and considering track days and ring trips, I’d be looking at Zetec and Duratec engined cars.

Good luck!

What he said

I came from a 360bhp 200sx and ran a 46 M3 after, then I got the westy.

They are great fun but a fear a pinto would become boring quickly.

My ears are burning..

I track a Pinto powered car, but to be fair if I was looking for a track car now, I'd be steering in a Duratec sort of direction. :)

I put a deposit down on a 1800 SEiW last night and collect it tonight after I finish work, it's just a nice standard example so I can do my own thing. I'm guessing it's been a members car at some point because it has club stickers on the roll bar, I'll update with photos tonight

Nice one.

Get yourself along to Stoneleigh next weekend (May bank holiday) and the next North East Area meet on 14th after that.

Our usual meet up is maybe 30mins from Teesside (depending which bit you are from)

I'd love to do Cadwell, I'll have to see if I can get a few bits done before and maybe do it if there's any space left.

I'm away for the back holiday but I will most definitely have to come the meet on the 14th!

If the weather is crap just come along in a tin top - westies are desirable but not mandatory at our meets 😁
