Qwertyseiw Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 I’m looking for some advice on the air filter fit on this Aerorace that I have recently bought. The car has a 2l Zetec, fitted with bike carbs and pipercross sausage air filter, but there is quite a gap in the fit of the filter to its modified backplate i.e. nothing to stop debries getting sucked straight into the carbs/engine? Should I block this gap to be safe? My additional question, is it OK that the air filter is fairly enclosed under the bonnet, with no cutout etc. Thanks. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Looks like the original bike air box back plate is still on the carbs. The filter 'seems' from what can be seen to fit the plate, but make sure there is no gaps between the bike back plate and filter backplate, unless its possible to remove the bike back plate and fit just the filter alloy plate ? CosKev Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 That filter looks quite shallow, how close to the trumpets is it? I think I would be cutting the bonnet and getting a deeper filter tbh. As @Thrustyjust says the back plate looks to fit ok,if there are any gaps you could seal them up with some black silicone Quote
Qwertyseiw Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 Thanks for these replies. I have siliconed up all the gaps for now. I have still to test drive the car, but the air-intake setup looks like it might benefit from a rework. 1 Quote
