I can now confirm dates, ferry details (and costs) and outline hotel theory and indicative costs...

So assuming £40/night/person = 7 nights, £280 (based on two sharing a room).

Hotels - will look to ensure they have facilities, swimming pool etc. This time the approach is to have the accommodation in sections so we are not packing up every day, based on 2-3 nights at each hotel to allow for travel days and chilled/driving days at your own pace should you want.

Total per person will be:

  • Accommodation £280 each (based upon 2+ sharing rooms - this is approx and most are pay on arrival but I may ask for a deposit as its free cancellation upto about a month before)
  • Ferry £484 per car (£242 each)
  • Cabins for 1-4 £210
  • = £732 per person (based on 1 car, sharing a car, sharing a room)
  • If driving alone but sharing rooms/cabins then its £974. These are estimated ceiling prices so should be less per night than this.

Plan is alternative drive to new hotel then a day exploring/leisure then repeat (ish). I organised a France to Spain last year, and have 2 other France trips behind me now.

I am hoping/assuming hotels will be pay on arrival/departure so I can start to book these over Xmas and hold them - but tweak if required. Enough detail for now to gauge interest? Just wanted to do a rough guide and costings so we can get firm numbers.

My availability is limited and Ferry choices are limited (this is the cheapest combo!) hence the desire to book now. Definite names by end of 2018 ideally.

All that needs to be paid 'today' is the ferry non-refundable deposit of 25% ~ £180. Ferry balance isn't due until 26 Apr 2019. Book your ferry direct via the link above.

If you book the ferries to lock yourself into the deal and let me know that would be great. Depending upon the hotel choices/options/availability I may have to (a) ask for deposits/hotel money and/or (b) book accommodation for those who have committed to the ferry with late additions making their own hotel bookings (subject to availability). I'll post the hotel details once I have them and advise on the above so late additions can add on - I'll help where I can.

Whos in?

I have provisionally booked the accommodation for up to 8 people. More details available - drop me a PM if you want.

Hi @CrisisWolf

sounds an epic trip, any reason not driving back through France?

Have been to Le Mans a couple of times, those French roads are great, albeit for more cameras now and I understand the speed limit on A and B roads has dropped by 10kph.

More time to explore the Pyrenees rather than 1-2 days just crossing it. Got a week going in round and over it this time.
