Parts List

Hi, does anyone have a definitive list of donor parts required to complete a SEiW Kit please?  I am going to build a Duratec powered car with MX5 Mk3 Gearbox from a Starter Kit as some others have been documenting in the build threads.  I want to start sourcing and preparing the donor parts but so far from reading the build threads and searching here I have only the following items, so a more definitive list would be most helpful.

Front Brakes - Cortina MK3/4/5 or a similar kit to fit this standard

Rear Brakes - Golf Mark 4

Rear Differential 7" or 7.5" Sierra

Apologies if this has been posted before, in which case if you can point me in the right direction that would also help.

Thank you.

The problem has always been keeping it up to date, so there’s not really a definitive list. Just on what you list above, Sierra rear diffs haven’t been used for a few years now, due to availability problems, it’s Mazda MX5 diffs now, (someone will be along to say which one, no doubt).

Also bear in mind selection of some options can vary what goes on the list... (wide track and latest generation wide track use different joints at the front, for instance.)

So double and triple check everything against the spec of kit you plan to get, before actual purchases are made.

If you are looking for a really good gearbox I have a Sport 250 which uses the Mazda’s MX5 gearbox and this is going to be removed from my car within the next month to fit a sequential box for racing.

The box has only done 834 miles from new.

I also will have the clutch, flywheel and possibly the starter for sale from the same car.

Hi again. Slightly different question are there any parts not included in the starter kits which I would be wise buying from Westfield? Ideally I would like to keep my trips to the factory to a minimum so if I can include them from the outset that would be really helpful.  Thanks.

It really depends on if you want convenience of a bolt on part or if your willing to fabricate or have made stuff your self.

I think the starter kit comes with golf rear uprights is that correct? There's a post in my sport 250 build thread that details all the bits you'll need for golf rear brakes at half the cost of the westfield rear calipers.

Steering rack is mk2 escort can be had from loads of places for half factory cost as can the front alloy uprights.

If an fw body then the fuel tank and cradle are bespoke and probably worth getting from the factory. But again money can be saved getting a custom tank made.

Front brake kits are available off the shelf from numerous suppliers.

If you want a carbon exhaust can this will be needed from the factory as no where else does them in that size.

Stuff like the windscreen and side screens are factory only items but do come up for sale used on occasion.

Wiring looms are factory items but can be done your self if your feeling brave.

There's a million ways of going about building one of these cars just depends on your preference really.
