Paul T Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Hi guys, after a pair of uprights in any condition. I'm not sure whether there are different versions/fitment(?) by my car is a 1999 SEiW. Thanks
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 There are! There’s wide and narrow bodied versions, and there seems to be an earlier shape and later shape, whether this corresponds to Kit Bodywork and ZK bodywork I’m not sure. Oh, and there are two very early versions, that pre date the style with fairings in for mounting Rover Metro/100 mirrors. These analysts ones either have no mirror boss, for taking a stalk type mirror, or a slightly later, but pre-Metro, type that has a small boss for mk2 Escort mirrors. Id guess yours would be reasonably recent type, ZK versions, but might just be the earlier kit style. You’ll probably just need to try a set and see, to be honest!
Paul T Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 Thanks Dave, as always it’s never straightforward I’m planning on cutting them down to use as interchangeable aeroscreen as per the idea in my aeroscreen post, so as long as the mounting points are the same it hopefully shouldn’t matter about mirrors etc
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 The profile of the mounting points is slightly different, newer compared to old, but to be honest, don’t let that put you off; even the “correct” profile isn’t a perfect fit. If doing some work on them anyway, I’d just re-shape them a bit, if necessary. Great idea by the way, the old AA Composites style screen seemed to work well as a compromise between quick windscreen/aeroscreen change over. 1

Weekend Warrior Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 AAComposites are IMO the best and easiest /quickest option .Im sure there are a few members on here with a couple kicking around the garage ,I was offered some from a couple of members ,They are still out there and can be had . l got some and then got a bit of Perspex cut (higher than the original spec ) I found it works better and you can go tinted .
