terryb Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 The SPECS cameras on Thewall Viaduct do have orange/red back plates to make them visible - to "be kind to the crimi.....sorry motorist" Quote
KIERAN Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Mmmm, www.blackspot.com Perhaps you guys need a Road Angel (it is GPS based and following recent updates will detect all SPEC's sites) along with all other units) Here's the pun, ABP Motorsport: 01270 567177, ive got one and they are bl**** good, oh and ask for me. windy Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Hmmm.... bit worried on this one as I noticed on Saturday night that the 'SPECS' type cameras on the M6 roadworks seem to have recently been fitted with red banners behind them. (I dont recall these been there before). This would of course be necesary if they were to be used as speed cameras..... anyways dont get me started on speed cameras.... Ade, The red backgrounds have been there for a long time. What I was pondering was what happens if you change lanes between camera's? They all seem to be pointing at the fast lane, so one would assume that you only get done in traffic when overtaking slower stuff & not when the road is empty late at night when you are in the slow lane. I would imagine most people are getting done by the last camera's which are positioned at the end of the roadworks in wide lanes just before the speed limit changes back to normal. Devious sods! Fat Albert Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Windy There has been a SPECS trial on the M1 in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire for the last 18 months. This is the first ever case in the UK where computer systems managed by different police forces have linked their data in order to provide evidence. The cost justification for the introduction of SPECS nationwide has been taken from this trial. Allegedly, the only reason that it hasn't been implemented for real is the on going argument between the forces about who keeps the revenue (sorry, fines) Quote
Muttleys V8 Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 A statement was made by somebody in the ministry of transport that no fixed cameras would be used on motorways, apart from the speed restrictions on the M25 around J16 - 13. There are specs cameras around road works on the M6 but these are only temps. You have to be carefull of the mobile units around J15 M1 and J16-17 on the M6. If President Tony did ever put cameras on the motorways, bet your life there would be uproar and would be in every newspaper going. Steve Quote
windy Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 There has been a SPECS trial on the M1 in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire for the last 18 months. Is that on the new bridge by the south northampton exit? Northamptonshire police have stolen 3.5 million from us already & they don't know what to do with it Quote

Guest Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 Got flashed yesterday - from the back of a white van that looked like it was part of a roadworks set-up. Orange and white diagonal stripes on the rear door - and two orange lights on the roof. When I got level, I could read the words "Community Safety Camera - working for your safety" - or some such nonsense. Bol***cks I say - on a perfectly straight piece of road just after the 60 limit changed to 30 (suddenly) - of course it is all about safety ain't it? This was on the A41 just outside Telford - at 2pm on a sunny afternoon. I live around there and have never heard of - or seen - the thousands of accidents these whinging bas***ds would have us believe happen every 5 minutes. I am angry - no 'corse not. Just waiting for the ticket to hit the mat - and hoping that one of the dogs eats it. Quote
Pete Collins Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 Forget the road angel I have an Originb2 much smaller unit which is easily moved to a westie as you can buy second car mounting kits.
