Just thought if anyone's considering doing a Duratec installation into a SEIW, then here's a couple of pictures of mine. At the bottom is how I did it and what the spec is. 762.jpeg

The engine developement was undertaken by Raceline. It has a Raceline wet sump and water rail. Crank & pulley keyed. Pistons pocketed, high lift stage II cams, Throttle bodies, Weber alpha ECU, AP heavy duty racing clutch, ultra light flywheel, and a 4-2-1 7" silencer. It utilises the standard Mondea starter motor, standard water pump, lightweight alternator, Caterham engine and gearbox mounts. It is in a SEIW MT75 chassis but fitted with a T9 close ratio heavy duty track gearbox which enables the engine to go back a lot and thus uses a short prop-shaft. It also has a 4.1 LSD. It produces 226 bhp @ 7250 rpm.

If anyone has intentions of doing this and wants me to answer questions, please fire away.

Cheers

Is it a 1.8, 2 or 2.1  Litre Duratec.

I would love to see the pictures but they don't appear on my PC   :(

I was talking to Raceline about doing the same thing with a 1.8 engine.

Have you tried the car out yet ?.

Did the car have another engine in it before the Duratec or is it a new car ?.

If so it would be interesting to get the before and after weights as the Duratec should be a lot lighter than a Ztec or a VX.

As far as I know Duratecs only come in a 2 litre or 2.3 litre form, mine is the 2 litre. It is a new engine and new car, so it's being run in and car not had SVA yet, but I have driven it and seems lively. The engine is 20-30kg lighter than Zetec or VX, I don't know weight of car yet, but will post when known.

Cheers

The same spec was at Weber's factory under developement for their ECU, they produced 226bhp on their rolling road back in October, the same spec is in a Stylus (orange) see kitcar november issue. A caterham recently recorded over 230 bhp with the same spec.

Raceline guarantee 225bhp so realistically thats what it is and its only a Catering van that could have more "with the same spec". I heard this "catering van" sold for £28k last month

 :suspect:  :suspect:

I do hope mine delivers the goods and it will be ready to run Jan 2004, Windy :D  :D

Unfortunately, I can't run the car on slicks with the wet sump, not until the dry sump kit's available (spring 2004).

Ford do a 1.8 Duratec as well as the 2 and 2.3 Litre.

I was told that Racelines first mock up engine at the Autosport show last year was a 1.8 Litre.

Minister use the 2.3 in their High Torque Cateringvan engine.

PS. your pics are now up and OK  :D
