John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 I've received a card inviting me to join "Team Westfield". I'm a little confused about it as it asks for payment of £25 and then lists all the benefits of being a member which seem to involve more payment. Am I missing the point somewhere? John Quote
N_J Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 yea .. I got one of these on Christmas eve. Who is running this.. the factory ? Quote
Blatman Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 I think the factory have employed a PR company to run it. Click this and then click the link for "Team Westfield Unique events for Westfield owners".............. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 Yes folks - Team Westfield is factory run and organised, using an external "off-site" PR company entitled Brandscape based in Solihull. If you happened to use your 10% discount voucher in the last WSCC magazine - you're sure to receive full details of Team Westfield. Joining fee is £25 - which provides you with "discount" "members only" track days starting from just £75, amongst a plethora of other benefits you can pay for. I haven't received any details through the post inviting me to join. can't think why Quote
Blatman Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 P'raps you need to use your discount voucher................ Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 But ........ I already have a Westfield and a ready supply of bits........ haven't you seen all the "junk" in the garage and call me a squirrel ... nothing is ever thrown away ..... "it might be of use one day" Any chance of a discounted FW400 Perhaps not - no room left in the garage. Quote
Blatman Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 Keep it at my place. Just don't tell the Mrs......... Quote
windy Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 Yep - Just received my invitation. Looks like a bargain to me!!!! NOT!!!!! The WSCC can do things like this for half the cost! The saying "If you can't join them - beat them" springs to mind - or is it meant to be said the other way round? Why is the factory setting up a rival to the club? Surely most WSCC members will think this is another nail in the coffin for the factories relationship with us - I thought they were hoping to resolve their differences with us and start to participate in our activities and promote the WSCC to new customers? What's your opinion Mark? P.S. you are black listed - thats why you didn't get a leaflet!!! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 Graham Merry Christmas Tis the season of goodwill to one and all Therefore, I will not give my "personal opinion" on the matter. Its a free country, pays your money takes your choice. But come on - Please let's not compare it as a true rival to the WSCC Where else can you get such cheap track days, a bi-monthly club magazine improving with every issue - PLEASE SEND MORE COPY TO RICHARD A club enthusiasts spirit, freedom of speech, and the comararderie of the Speed Series with 100+ entrants, a number of specialists offering discount and services to club members as advertised in Westfield World. All for just £20 new members and £18 renewals . Well I've gotta give the WSCC a plug ain't I. Team Westfield is a commercial business venture. The WSCC is operated as an enthusiasts club for and by club members. The world is big enough for both. Individuals can decide which one they want to join or get the best of both and join The Club and The Team. Black-listed, never mind eh I was told they they ran out of forms. Before they got to my name. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted December 28, 2001 Posted December 28, 2001 The WSCC is a club run by the members, for the members. 'Team Westfield' is run by a business with large over heads and these will be reflected in everything they do from membership, promotion, trackdays etc, any decision made will be done by the factory and not a team of members. 'Team Westfield' is probably gonna be a 'track day club', but I do genuinally feel both can run a long side each other, however, 'Team Westfield' is the factory and will always have a 'factory edge' to it and not a local feel as with the WSCC. I'm sure like any business organisation the factory will, from time to time have a 'cloak and dagger' feel to it. At least now the club has had new life and people breathed in to it. I hope it doesn't sound like Im having a go @ the factory I'm not. Westfield have vastly improved over the last 12 months in most areas .......but business is business. Harmony is the word!! Have they got anybody to replace Chris Masters yet? someone like Adrian Newey!! Buzz Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 28, 2001 Posted December 28, 2001 Adrian Newey at Westfield wow Nice thought Buzz. I haven't heard from Westfield of any replacement for Chris Masters as yet - but I haven't received info on Team Westfield or info on the XTR2 either, neither have other WSCC committee members. It appears as though we are not included in their PR mailshots - cos as soon as we receive such useful info we could inform as many folks as possible of any good news. Not to worry though Buzz cos the WSCC committee are included on press releases by other companies and organising bodies so we can keep up to speed that way, hopefully. ah well, never mind eh looks like Windy was right with a blacklist, what else am I to assume. Mark Stanton Posted December 28, 2001 Posted December 28, 2001 P.S. Buzz Harmony - let's not forget Rhapsody and Melody those other destiny angels from the adventures of Captain Scarlet. Quote
Blatman Posted December 28, 2001 Posted December 28, 2001 And while we're on the subject (of Captain Scarlet) I saw the entire series for sale.......on DVD........how cool? Quote
