This photo was taken by my wife and while I was autocrossing in a local church parking lot. I like how the big, wide and sticky tires distort under the heavy cornering loads. It's winter here now and snow covers the roads and the Westie is tucked away warm and safe in the shop waiting for the sun to melt the ice. dave Great shot. Nice colour BTW Jackpot! 2 Quote
Popular Post Morris Posted December 26, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 26, 2025 A nice but chilly drive to and from the Ace Cafe 'Cold Turkey' meet this morning. Plenty of bikers, some classic cars and some good chats. The XI started up well without a choke and ran faultlessly. 16 Quote

I really struggle to see why people use them over winter, you can't use their performance, your chassis and any bare steel parts go really rusty, the roads are way more dangerous in general, takes ages to wash them properly and try and protect them for going on a drive which is cold, wet and not enjoyable A good way to protect against that is a carcoon. They're not that expensive tbh.. £400ish new. I reckon one can be made cheaper.. Using poly-tunnel plastic sheeting which isn't expensive. 2x2 wooden framework, staple gun and join the plastic with velcro. For heat. Initially use a diesel heater ducting into the 'bubble' for drying out. Then switch to a few 12v computer casing fans blowing instead. It'll need to have venting the opposite side. When not in use... Roll up the sides, fix to the roof joists. 12v fans powered by a transformer which can also power any LED strips inside if needed. 1 Quote
mega ade Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have a carcoon and its not heat that dries your car but dehumidifier through carbon filters its also 100% waterproof with fully attached base double skinned to prevent ice forming inside has a useful opimate type charging system to keep your battery in top condition and should your external power fail it switches over to the car battery and stays inflated, after 3-4 months in there even discs stay shinny like the day it went in I think it would be hard to create the same environment with a poly tunnel i think it would suffer huge condensation issues Quote
