Lotuss2 Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Hello Westfield owners! I have just purchased a Westfield 7 but I have not taken delivery. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I am part of the Golden Gate Lotus Club, I have owned several Lotus over the years including currently a Zanthos 23b. This car is said to be a factory build and was shipped to Japan for its entire life, brought to the USA and sat at a dealer for the last 2 years. For some reason they had to rebuild the Crossflow motor. Its sold as a 1990 Westfield SE, I am a bit confused about the SE this looks like a Pre-Lit model right? the engine plate reads 7 85 49 KR, so does that read Model 7, year 85 and Chassis 49? Thank you for any advice. Tom 2 Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 I can't answer your questions but love the look of your car. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Very pretty car. My pre-lit scuttle had SE moulded into it. SE means is a live axle narrow , in a way. Crossflows do need refreshing occasionally. You have a motor thats a few years old. The chassis number description sounds about right and is located in front of the crossmember ahead of the engine. Welcome to Westfield ownership and fire away with any questions , we are a friendly bunch here. 1 Quote
Lotuss2 Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 Thanks for the replies, The car looks great, cant wait to get it. I am finalizing the deal now and should see it in 2 weeks. They added what looks like a heating vent from a house on top of the nose, I will change that. more pics. 2 Quote
Thrustyjust Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 I wonder how many came with 3 wiper blades. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Beautiful As the other have said, that would be a pre-lit or Westfield Seven as they were originally called. The chassis plate does confirm that the car is 1985 vintage and number 49. Quote
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 from sunny Somerset. Great looking car you're buying, sure you'll enjoy it. I'll leave your questions to the experts. Quote
garytipping Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Hi, Great to see another pre lit still surviving. I am currently building chassis number 35. There were 132 aluminium pre litigation models built before production stopped. Hope mine looks as good as yours when it's complete. There is a member, in the USA, that is collecting data to build a register of aluminium pre lit cars, he posts as @1WestfieldSeven I'm sure he would love to hear from you. Have you worked out where the components came from? The front suspension is probably Triumph Spitfire, and the back axle could be Morris Marina or Ford Escort. I have a build thread running in the Starting Line section @garytipping happy to answer any questions I can. Welcome. Gary Quote

GaryD1971 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Wow! That is a very pretty Westie! Welcome to the club! Quote
Captain Colonial Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Very pretty pre-lit! The dealer is incorrect as already stated, 1985 not 1990, so there’s a bit of leverage to use on them in negotiations. I hope you will become a full member in due course and enjoy the benefits. By the way, the engine was manufactured in March 1972: http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-manufacture-dates.html 1 Quote
